Boozer's agent is the bad guy here. Rob Pelinka, who's been spending too much time coddling Kobe, didn't figure out what fair market value was for Boozer. When presented with the full MLE, he said that was a good deal and agreed to the terms. But he had to present the better deals to his client when he got them. And his client had to accept the deal because the money was too significant. The fact is, what Boozer wanted in this deal was some measure of confidence that his future would be taken care of. Sure the deal he got from Utah was better than what Cleveland would have been able to get him, but Cleveland was offering his an insurance policy. If they would have exercised that option and gotten Boozer for cheap this year, with no assurances on the future, then what happens if Boozer has a career threatening injury next season before he signs a new contract? By re-working the deal now, he at least has some protection against that risk. But again, it's his agent's fault. What a jack-o. Hardly a surprise that he also represents Kobe. I hope Kobe goes to the Clippers and ruins this agent's career.
We can get Craig Ehloe for Juwan and Brad Daughtery for Clarence Weatherspoon. Or Juwan for Mark Price.
I like McInnis, he kinda reminds of Vernon Maxwell. He played well with the Clippers and hit tons of 4th quarter 3 pointers. Don't trade Mo Taylor, he's better than those other 2 scrubs we have.
they won't trade McInnis... he takes the load off Lebron at PG (they are already shorthanded at the point) but Battie would be a nice backup Center, if they will take that Mo T contract off our hands
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=2628 tinman sez... "I don't want my team to get a 17 point and 7 rebound per night player!"
The last I heard, Wagner doesn't like to play the point. Allen Iverson is his idol and he modelled his game accordingly. I don't think the Cavs would trade McInnis.
' no... they traded to GET McINnis last season BECAUSE all they had was Wagner. When McInnis went down the Cavs fell out of the playoff hunt. (I have Lebron in my fantasy keeper team so I have been following the Cavs PG situation more than I would like) "...if I only had a Juwan..."
Willis, how about we get Zgiligus Ilgalgus for Juwan, Mo Taylor, Clarence Weatherspoon and/or Scott Padgent?
How could you find it hard to believe when market value for Boozer is way more than the MLE? Proven by the fact that he got a 68 million dollar contract, not many guys in this league guarantee you a double double every night, even fewer can give you the occasional 30-20 like Boozer has and will continue to do. The cheapest way for the Cavs to get Boozer signed to a long term deal was to make him a free agent (restricted) this year, sign him to a 6 year/MLE deal, instead of an unrestricted next season and risk a bidding battle next offseason. I don't think Boozer would of guaranteed anything, fact of the matter is he couldn't guarantee anything, if he really did and the Cavs admit it, the Cavs are in T-Wolves/Joe Smith problems. True, he could of waited till next season, Paxon offered him a chance to re-sign a bigger deal, he took it, and Utah decided to offer him an even bigger deal and he took that offer instead. Morals of the story: Don't underestimate the market value of a talented BIG in NBA free agency, and it's better to be overpaid than underpaid.
How many of those guys put up 17 and 7 last year? Howard did that. His career average is 18 and 7. He put up 18 and 7 in the East and West and he put the same numbers up for good and bad teams. The guy is a team player, not a ball-hog. I'm happy to have Howard as a Rocket.
