I would trade the entire roster besides the dynamic duo, so maybe they can work it out.

I can already see it -

    Francis running point
    Mobley at the two
    Bryant at point forward

Surely the Rocks can work out a trade that wouldn't involved Cat and Steve.

Rudy would never trade Mobley or Francis right now. He likes them to much and wants to build the team around them.

Anyone saying you wont trade Mobley for Kobe is just plain stupid. Is Kobe selfish....Yes. Is Kobe a ball hog....Yes. But, can you name another NBA guard at the age of 22 that averaged 29.2 pts 5 asts 6 rbs and 46% FG%. Jordan and Kobe. Kobe might not be the next Jordan but his game is the closest one anyone will ever see to Jordans.

I honestly would not trade ANYONE on the Rocket's's roster for Kobe. It would kill the team.

First of all, NO WAY I would do that deal if I were the Rocks. WAY TOO MUCH to give up for Kobe. And I thought the Reef for Cato/4 1st rounders/etc. deal was too much, but the starting backcourt, foundation of the team, for Kobe?

    FUNNY!! [IMG]

And wishful thinking on their part. But you can't blame them for trying. [IMG]

But what if the Rocks, assuming that they just miss the playoffs, end up with the top overall pick in the draft (chance to draft Curry, Dajuan Wagner, Griffin) and let's say a team like the Celtics, with multiple picks, wants to talk about moving those picks and Walker or Pierce (doubtful on Pierce) for the Rocks #1. Or maybe the Grizz, wanting to blow up the team and looking for a fresh start in a new city, offer Reef and Bibby to the Rocks for the #1/Cato, Walt, etc. Maybe the Bucks want to make some changes, or the Blazers. Now the Lakers want to get involved, maybe to get the Rocks' #1, maybe to take on another team's package of players/picks, and offer Kobe. If you're Carroll Dawson, would you:

    1. Keep the #1 and possibly draft Curry, Griffin, etc.

    OR

    2. Trade the pick, looking to acquire a slew of talented players and increasing the overall talent level of the team, maybe finding a difference maker. Kobe either goes to another team, stays with the Lakers, whatever.

    3. Trade the pick, acquire Kobe, put him at the 3, and possibly have one of the most talented trio of perimeter players in league history (say whatever you want about him being arrogant and selfish, the guy CAN BALL!!).

This is with the understanding that, because you're also moving picks and players (i.e. Cato and Walt), the salary cap room that suppossed to be used to go after CWebber is not being affected.

I would shoot myself in the face if we traded for Kobe.

If this trade ever happens....... I'll personally go to Caroll Dawson's office and choke him to death with some help from Francis, Cuttino and choke specialist Latrell Sprewell.
