"Your colors shine. Your analogy is poor. "

    What exactly are my "colors?"

and the analogy is NOT poor. 100's of THOUSANDS of innocent Japanese people lives DID bring the end of WWII and there was no retaliation. What is not factual about that statement?

    I was playing w/ Cohen's quote.

I just thought the analogy was poor b/c the Japanese Emperor actually cared about his people. That, and a whole lot of public pressure not to vaporize civilians means that we probably won't do it anymore.

The Taliban has less than 90% of the support of the country but rules with an iron fist because they have WEAPONS AND TRAINING from the United States. The CIA created this problem, and now we are seeing the insanity of the Taliban.

I don't say Afghanistan, because the majority of them are poor, starving and simply wish for what anyone wants; a family, work, etc. I think the US position of supporting the Anti-Taliban forces in the Northern Alliance is the best option.

Why spill more American Blood?? Just Arm the Northern Alliance troops that are anti-taliban with the best weapons around, then let them fight it out. Japan is a different scenario.

The terrorists that they have labeled so far are not even from Afghanistan....they are Saudi Arabian, Egyptian and from UAE...all US ally countries. You Nuke a bunch of mountians in Afghanistan and you will simply compound the problem.

    F.D. Khan,

But why learn from the past, when you can just feel nice and secure by unleashing impressive power.

What do you mean, this is different? You mean, no one country harbors our enemy? They're in over 20 countries? Let's blow something up anyway, I want to blow something up. I'll feel better.

And when the next terrorist attack occurs, lets blow up some more desert. I don't want to figure out how to really resolve this problem. If we keep blowing things up, soon or later, this will go away.

While I certainly agree with the one paragraph that says we should not carpet bomb Afghanistan, the rest of the article seems like the same leftist ideas that you have been spewing since the tragedy. Try to empathize with the terrorists and change foreign policy to make them happy. Did it occur to you that some of the governments that we have sanctions against are bad? Maybe if Saddam had checked himself and not invaded our ally Kuwait, the US would not have killed 70,000 Iraqis and imposed harsh economic sanctions against his country. I am sick and tired of all the crap people are saying about the US. Are we a perfect nation? Of course not, but I dare say we have done far less harm than good. Finally, we have not given unquestioning support to the nation of Israel. If not for US policies, I doubt that any concessions would have been made to Palestine. If some of the Muslim nations hate us because we make sure that Israel continues to exist, that is just too f***ing bad.
