College: Xavier (Ohio) '99 The thing is...Posey isn't that bad. He's just as good as Daniels, Barry, and Piatkowski. He's just younger. He only needs to improve his shooting. All three players would be great on our team. We really need someone who can catch and shoot. Eric Piatkowski and Jon Barry do that well. Jon Barry would be my favorite since he can shoot and he can create. He's very intelligent. But I would want to resign Posey too. Still...if we got one of them... Francis/Moochie or Daniels/Maddox Mobley/Barry or Piatkowski Posey/Rice/Nachbar/Morris Griffin/Taylor Yao/Cato Even if we got one...they are all guards. Francis and Mobley are both league leaders in minute played. All three would definitely do better than Moochie in 12 minutes they play per game. The only solution would be to trade a combination of Mobley, Griffin,Rice, Nachbar, or Cato to get a good small forward or a good power forward. Then Barry, Piatkowski, or Daniels could start. Posey could start and could split time with one of them at shooting guard. Nachbar would get to play if Rice is traded. It would be great!
The Rockets best success over the years has been with a dominant center. We appear to have another one in Yao Ming. While Francis has altered his game this year to include Yao, the fact still remains that our dynamic duo have been together for 4 years & still haven't been able to carry us into the playoffs (pending the outcome of the last 6 games of this year). I believe that the only off season trade we really need to make is Mobley/future #1 pick for Andre Miller, but I'm going to throw out a radical trade & see what ya'll think. Sooooo, let's get radical. Here's another Hottoddie wild *ss trade proposal. Houston sends Francis/Griffin/Posey to Indiana. Houston sends Mobley to the Clippers. Indiana sends Artest/Harrington to Houston. Indiana sends Tinsley to the Clippers. The Clippers sends Andre Miller to Houston. The trade doesn't work on RealGM, but it doesn't matter at this time. Francis's new contract kicks in next year & both Posey/Miller would have to be resigned. So, the numbers will change. However, the players listed would be the principal parties involved. Houston gets a starting PF, SF, & true PG. We could replace Mobley with a FA acquisition such as Piatkowski, Hoiberg, Jon Barry, Jim Jackson, Stephen Jackson, or Voshon Lenard among others. Our front line would get an instant upgrade to surround Ming with & a PG that looks to pass first. Indiana gets a star in Francis, an up & coming young PF in Griffin, & an athletic SF in Posey. They also get rid of the distractions that Artest brings to the team. The Clippers get to move Miller (whom they've become disenchanted with), pick up a replacement PG in Tinsley & a very good SG in Mobley (which could help them resign Odom). Okay, I know this won't happen, but it would be something that all 3 teams would have to think about. Again, I truely believe that the only move the Rockets need to make this off season, is to move Francis to the 2 & bring in a more traditional PG. Francis at the 2 would upgrade that position over Mobley & a PG like Miller, McInnis, Best, or Derek Anderson would improve the distribution from the PG spot.
Rockets would be freeing up $23,100,000 of salary money. This is if Francis will be making around 12.5 million and Posey around 3.5. The players they will be receiving make a total of $14,900,000. The players the Pacers would be trading away would be making a combined $7,700,000. The players arriving would be making $18,200,000. Players leaving Clippers would make $8,000,000...that is if Miller is going to resign with them for a contract of about $8 million. The players coming in would make a sum of $5,700,000. So. It looks good for the Rockets. $8,200,000 of money left over. Pacers would be spending $10,500,000 more. Clippers would have $2,300,000 extra. Pacers would have an awesome team. Francis and Jermaine O'Neal. WOW. Along with Posey and Griffin? Very nice team. Clippers wouldn't be getting much better. They get a good shooting guard and an all right point guard that will do. Maybe they will be surprising with the new coach Dennis Johnson next season and the extra money. Rockets will have an OK team. But I just don't think the Rockets will give up Stevie Franchise. Andre Miller/Moochie Norris Anybody Ron Artest Al Harrington Yao Ming. Ron Artest and Mo Taylor won't be getting along...Francis and Mobley BOTH GONE?!? Indiana would give up 41.64 talent. They would be getting 44.41 talent. But would be getting a lot of expenses. But no more Artest. Rockets would be giving up 49.31 talent. But would be getting 43.39 talent and Ron Artest. Clippers would be giving up 15.03 talent, but they would be receiving 28.53 talent AND extra money. This trade would help the Clippers. All this talent is based on combined efficiency. Francis - 21.79 Artest -16.16 Mobley - 15.25 Miller - 15.03 Tinseley - 13.28 Harrington - 12.20 Posey - 11.42 Griffin - 11.20 Griffin - 11.20 Posey - 11.42

We gotta get a rebouding pf, and im thinking brian grant in miami is a good place to start. Miami is looking to go young and dump some of there salary and we should take advantage. In this era of free agency theres no point to hold on to Egriff. by the time he becomes the "star" everyone on the team wants hom to be he'll be leaving us for the big $$$. By that time we will have to players that we are paying the max too and will have to build around with good role players. We have got to make a run at it next year and its gonna cost Egriff to get grant over here. Jeff Van Gundy!!!!! Ive thought throughout the season that he would be a great fit for us and i still feel the same way. One of the many things hes a genius at that is overlooked a lot in the nba is staying consistant with his rotations. He know what players play good together and what players feed off others by their capabilities.
One of the issues will be getting players who want to come to Houston in the first place. I've heard that Houston is a bit of a hot bed for NBA players during the off-season. Does this necessarily translate into them also wanting to play in Houston?
I agree, this looks great! I could see it happen too. Odom is friends with many players on the Rockets, so he would blend in just fine. But it depends on how much Posey demands.... We might have to choose between Pos and Odom. And I totally agree with what you say about Cat. He's great. And we won't trade him, Rudy T and most importantly Francis loves him. So a trade is out of the question. And I'm glad that's out of the question.
I would like to see the rockets try to sign Jordan as a free agent... I heard about jordan tried to get francis to play for the wizards, why not francis tried to get jordan to play for the rockets? Jordan can start as SG, then we can have mobley off the bench. He can bring so much to a "talent" young team.
mobley is better than jordan v.2003. it would never ever happen, but if it did than jordan should come off the bench. he could win 6th man.
Hell no we shouldn't bring in Van Gundy or Lamar Odom. They both suck bigtime. The day they bring in VanGundy is the day I stop being a Rockets fan.
Why does everybody always want to trade with the Clippers? Those guys suck!!! Try to get Rashard to come back home.
Here's my off season wish list: Let's say bye and thanks to Mooch, JC, Rice. See how it goes with Hawkins, T Mo 1. PG is what we need: Payton, Kidd, Parker, or Ford (does he really need to study for exams?). Move Franchise to the 2. Cat's expendable, though I wouldn't mind having him come off the bench. 2. Posey... I just don't know. He teases with flashes of brilliance. 3. Does anyone know what the story is on Boki? I mean, we could use a bonafide outside shooter who can play at least adequate defense. If Boki's a bust, let's admit it and go after someone else. 4. Start Mo, sub Griffin in. Hope both of 'em continue to improve. 5. Yao! Eat and pump iron! Come back like Godzilla! Cato just needs to pump iron... Of course, if we win the championship this year, which is still possible--well, then, like Gilda Radner always said: "Never mind!" I'm not fanatical enough to learn the Byzantine intricacies of salary caps, luxury taxes--all the practical money issues. I just hope we don't trade away another Otis Thorpe, Sam Cassell, or Robert Horry. And I hope everyone comes back healthy and eager, especially Rudy.
Keep Jauquin, Why did you change your handle? Were you just looking for a LiTtLe change? Here's a thought, to keep your post count down, so that people stop making fun of you (all in good faith mind you), post one with LiTtLe and one with Keep Jauquin, and rotate between the two, that way each account only posts half as much. Just a thought... Rockets won't land Odom, too many other teams would pay for his athletecism. Clips won't move Odom anyway IMHO. Brand, not gonna happen, he could draw much for interest or cost A LOT more than we would think...think CAT and Rice/Cato would do it, I don't think so. Rockets could possibly land Miller, as he's the guy with the lowest value to the Clips org, but the jury's out as to if that would actually help us (somewhat marginal contribution over CAT's offense, and would be a much less effective defensive tandem). There's not an easy answer, and time may be all that is needed anyway. IMO if the Clips put their guys up for a "fire sale" we could be outbid by a lot of teams, who are trying to acquire their young nucleus rather than the Rox who simply need a piece of the puzzle.
LOL. Well we are definitely not going to get Brand since Eddie got busted...but Andre Miller and Lamar Odom are possible.
Houston sends Taylor,Griffin and Mobley to atl for SAR,Johnson, and a future 1st rd pick. The Rockets resign Posey to play sg,let Morris ,Rice and Nachbar battle for the sf spot. Cato can back up both spots if needed or someone like Ty Hill or Campbell can be signed for 1/2 the 4.5 exception. The offense should change and the consistent scoring and rebounding of SAR would keep the rockets out of those lulls they have been known for. Francis Posey Rice/Morris/Nachbar Shareef Ming
The money works out fin. But...Shareef Abdur Rahim is good I know. But the other guy just returned to basketball after a severe auto accident. Giving up Griffin would be fine. But adding Taylor AND Mobley too? That's way too much for just SAR and two guys. Unless this Johnson guy is good.
