Oh and Ahman set a new high for consecutive plays without needing help off the field

I have always been lukewarmish on the Texans, but I feel very sorry for their fans (not the least of which is my father), they and the city of Houston deserve better than this $700 million comedy of errors.

    Amen!

    Steve Slaton is a positive.

The other thing, like someone else said, is that we're really not THAT bad. We're essentially a 2 and 2 team with an 0 and 4 record. We lost to two good teams, and should have beaten two pretty decent teams. What hurts is that those were division games. Given the distraction of Ike, including what effects it had on players' homes, and the stadium, I think we're doing alright.

I say we can still win 6 to 8 games.

We're not playing the Saints next year. It should be the Cardinals instead.

Someone needs to chop this photo to look like Michaelangelo's Cistine Chapel ceiling painting. Maybe with Schaub as the other guy pointing.

We didn't blow this lead in a playoff game.

One of the best nicknames I've heard in a while, coined by an 8-year-old nonetheless:

    Rosenfumble

It just rolls off the tongue so easily. Rosenfumble.

Max, be sure to give props to your kid from a complete stranger on the 'net. Excellent nickname.

I'll do it. I started laughing right away when he said it. We're always making up goofy names to call one another...so it just rolled right off when he fumbled that second time. Actually I think he callled him Sparky McRosenfumble or something like that. He's good people. :)

i'm surprised this team has any fans. i respect the guys who root for anything houston, I used to be like that. now just a casual observer. and you know what, I just don't think its as bad as it appears.

lets look at the first few years of this organization. aside from season 3, the texans don't even compete in this games. you know at least they compete offensively. their line gives them a chance, this goes back to about the middle of last season.

now instead of no chance, its stop shooting yourselves in the foot. if schaub doesn't play them out a of the titans game, there's a very legit chance they win that, and of course yesterday. three years ago, they didn't even have a chance to screw it up themselves. I not being facecious, its progress.

agreed - they've improved every single week this year. they were completely blown out in pittsburgh; played better but sloppy against the baby vinces; played well enough to win offensively against the jags (and might've if they had won the coin toss) and turned in a complete effort yesterday.... until the final 4 minutes.

that's a sign of good coaching, week-to-week. plus, sage rosenfels is a back-up QB - let's not forget that. i'd like to think schaub, who gets more practice reps, more game experience, more hands-on coaching (including all this week), would have played those final 4 minutes smarter.

i think there's a good chance they'll win these next three. and i don't fear minnesota in week 8, either. 4-4 is not out of the question. i wouldn't lay money on it, but these next 4 teams aren't in the class of @ pitt, @ tenn, @ jax, indy (after a bye week).

Excellent post Ric, I agree completely. Yep, we are 0-4 but we still have 12 games to play. This last game resembled the team we saw late last year. They are improving and getting better every week. We are playing scrubs the next three games and Minn is not a super power by any means.

I am a Houston Fan completely and a Football fan specifically. I realize its been a long road and many fans are frustrated..rightly so considering the overall results.

What Capers and Casserly did to this franchise was appalling and a tragedy. Kubiak and company has not been perfect or correct on everything they have done but at least we have a group of folks who have some semblance of football knowledge. They need time to weed out the malcontents that were on this team and break the losing mentality that Capers instilled in this franchise. Sometimes its not your talent, its your mindframe and team culture.

If you want to stop watching or rooting for the Texans due to their lack of production in the win column, that is well within your rights as a fan. But just think how much sweeter it would be if you stayed until the Texans finally break through. It may not be this season or even the next but When it does, this city will go bananas.

I want to be there when it happens and never turn my back on MY Houston Texans.

Make no mistake, it will happen.

good points all-around. i continue to be amazed at how... well, impatient too many fans are in this day and age. they also seem much less informed; surprising, given the rise in available information. hell, maybe that's the problem - there are too many outlets, so fans have to rush to secure prime position and then scream louder than ever to be heard...

the texans have played four not good, but exceptionally good teams; they're a combined 13-6 so far this year, and 3 of those losses were against one another (one by 7, one by 3, another by 5). three of the games were on the road, including one in the aftermath of the same storm that more or less sunk the astros' season.

if W/L record is the only way to define your experience, have it. but i see a lot of positives to sink your teeth into with this team. do i see some negatives? yep; i sure do. but until they're an elite team, i pretty much expect 0-4, 1-3 against those 4 teams, especially with 3 straight road games.

i'm with you; adjusting your expectations according to reality makes weathering these storms easier. as does having a firmer grasp of where they're going down the road. they aren't building a one-year wonder here; they're trying to build a foundation that'll win for years and years - like denver, really.
