    BIG DIFFERENCES!

The Spurs won a championship in 1999...

The Rockets havent even been serious contenders since 1998..

    I think we've been patient...

Is it time to call for CD to step down if there isnt a move made to improve this team this summer?

That's my feeling as well. Four years is about as long as I'd want to make it. It'd have been nice to sign him for cheaper given the market, but there are guys worse than Posey making that same amount of money.

I predict the Rockets match without trades.

In my opinion the team was a talented team and the change of the coach was all that was needed. Losing Posey and Tmo was never supposed to be part of our offseason. At this point all we should have been doing is looking for a few guys for training camp.

Just for the record, this means the rockets CANNOT trade Posey to the Grizz, whether they match or not. So these Battier/MM/Person fantasies have no backing.

Just like the rox couldn't be involved in trade talks w GS aft the rox signed MJax to an offer sheet a while back.

Yes, London brought me a moment of reflection about an evening at the beach with the significant other... several years back. I like the beach.

Let me see if I've got this right.

    1) Posey has received an offer from the Grizz
    2) We know it's a 4 yr deal, but we have absolutely no idea how much it's for
    3) We do know that Posey hasn't signed the offer sheet yet.
    4) We don't know if the Rockets will match or not.

Glad to see that all this gloom and doom is based on such concrete information.

If it is like $28mil/4 year, then we should just let Posey walk. Memphis really don't need Posey, or I should say he is not worth paying lux tax over, at least for memphis. I bet midway through the season, Memphis will ask for trade to get Rice to get out of the lux tax.

There won't even be a luxury tax next year. The Rockets will match.

    Talk about overreacting.

Unless the offer is completely unthinkable, I don't see how the Rocks could even afford Posey to leave.

    They are going to match.

    * I hope *

    We don´t need Posey.
We need Nachbar playing time. And we have Hawkins already. We don´t need another defender without shot.
Plus, for this money we can go for other betters SF like Jimmy,... and others bench PGs. Posey would want 6 per year´or more, and that´s so much for a player like him. We need talent talent and talent!!
Let´s for Demarr johnson with this money!

I don't think it can be for that much. Memphis is over the cap and can only offer the MCE. I think the Max 4 year MCE is like 22 mil, 5 year deal like 29 mil or 6 year deal like 36mil. (please correct if wrong).

Thus is Mem offers a 4 year deal--at worst it is for 22 mil. They might have made us sweat more if it was like 6/36 (with pretty hefty 6 or 7 mil years at the end), and the Nugs or Miami could have made us really sweat by putting a 40 mil+ contract like the one KT got, but honestly 22 mil has to be about the least we expected to pay for Posey. Since we have seemingly entertained offers to guys like Pike or AD for 2-3 mil--worst case scenario is with Posey likely getting full MCE level money we will not pursue these guys. I still hope he pursue Pike, Barry, Peeler, Leonard or a 3rd PF for cheap (1.5-3 mil)--but if matching JP's contract keeps us from doing so, so be it.

If this goes down, we haven't added anyone and we just lost our starting small forward. While most of teams we'll be fighting with are adding, we face the possibility of losing.

***ESPN just reported that the T-Wolves have add Spreewell. They've also added Oliwakandi(however, you spell it) Cassell.

I think under 4 mils/ yr for Posey would be great. Between 4-5 is a maybe but 5-6 mil/ yr is a no-no.
We have Hawks who can do the job almost as well. We can bring T. Morris back too!

Not true. We could add whoever we wanted to the deal. The bigger problem would be working a deal with the likely BYC complications with Posey.

However, a sign and trade has not occurred to this point where a player signs an offer sheet, and all teams agree to rescind it in order to work a sign and trade. The fact that he hasn't officially signed it leads me to speculate that he's a.) still hoping for us or b.) possibilities of sign and trade discussions.

I agree with Desert Scar- the most Memphis can offer is 22.54 million over 4 years. That is good news. All reports saying we can't match are completely wrong- we have his Bird Rights. The Warriors can't match Arenas because they don't have his Bird Rights, but Posey's situation is identical to Elton Brand's- only 60 mill less. This is good for us if we wish to keep Posey.

Damn, this is on the line between funny and sad. The guy hasn't even signed the offer sheet to start the ticking clock. It's been a week, and the Clippers haven't matched on Maggette, yet. Check back two weeks from now. Until then, if you're this freaked out about Posey, one might recommend a sedative.

Can't we do a S&T for Swift or Battier? Or is it after he signs the offer that is out of the question, like the Mark Jackson deal a couple of years ago?

Maybe that is why he has not signed it yet, to allow the Rocks to do a S&T.....please...oh please...bring Swift or Battier.

The Rockets need to let other teams do contract negotiating for them more often. 4 years/22 million is a dream come true for the Rockets because if CD was doing it he would have gotten suckered into a 6 year contract like he did with Moochie and Taylor. Don't believe what CD said about not going over the cap. He will go over the cap for Posey since his contract is barely going to put them over it which doesn't hurt too much. This is good news.
