Why go over the luxuary tax before we are contenders?

No one will take Moochie off our hands. Looks like we have a whole season of that f***ing three guard lineup again.

Exactly. Isn't that about how long we'd like to have him locked up for anyway? I certainly wouldn't want any other 6+ year deals for role players (even good ones) who may not improve (or might regress, ala Mooch).

I like Posey and he really stepped up down the stretch, showing what he's capable of doing. Until we hear what the $$ are, I'm going to hold off going ballistic. But if we don't sign him, we have a hole in the lineup you could drive Yao's Toyota SUV through.

This also shows that Oeilpere was full of crap w/ his "Posey wil be back" info.

Are you guys sure about this one??? Memphis already has Battier and Mike Miller, along with dickerson and troy bell, daunte jones, wesley person.. Why would they need Posey?? just seems illogical for them to pay him that much money..

Well the Rockets definitely wanted him back. There obviously was a small chance that a team with enough cap space would "overpay" him with a contract big enough to send the Rockets over the luxury tax threshold. But he probably didn't think it was a big possibility.

Perhaps Jerry West sees Posey as the difference between a few wins...the rox win a few less if they don't have him. That could be enough to get his helpless club into the playoffs. And he may not be wrong on this one.

EDIT: One hour rule - Newbie signed with the Cavs.

Does anyone else sense a sign and trade coming? Memphis already has Battier and Miller at the 3. Something is going on here that hasn't been revealed. West is up to something.

Did you forget that we have a new coach who will control playing time?

Not true. We don't know if we're getting Posey or not. Don't eat so many burritos. In excess, it could lead to the digestive problem of which you speak.

Man, it is sad the Rockets doesn't do much at all this off-season while other teams in the West are upgrading their roster SIGNIFICALLY. Even the Clips are making moves in order to stay competitive enough to survive in the BRUTAL west.

But well, with the huge CRAPPY contracts the Rockets bare(i.e. Moochie, Taylor and Rice), I guess there wasn't much they could do this offseason.

    Sad.

Well, positively thinking, we are in good shape landing a lottery pick next year. (Researches say positive mind is good for health :D)

dude, the hole is more like a hummer 2 can drive through. who will rotate to our whack-@ssed forward lineup? rice-boki-hawk?! oh god please no... we have a three way rotation of our guards (which i despise), now if we dont resign posey we will have a three way whack-@ssed SF rotation too.. plus, posey is a great essential for our team. his hustle, determination is what is needed or a big piece of the puzzle to win a championship imo.

I say let him go. He isn't worth that much. We already have too many overpriced players on the team, why have 1 more. Why is everyone thinking that we are screwed just because we may not have Posey back? It isn't like the apocalypse is coming. All we need is more time to gel as a team. We are going to play better defense no matter what, because JVG will preach it and whoever doesn't will get benched! Rudy didn't preach it as much as he should have. Rice and Nachbar will fill in well enough and we still have a certain 7'5'' goalie to protect both of them, so they can overplay, knowing that Yao, EG, Kato are right behind them. I say let him go.
He is getting a little more money, good for him. But, he is leaving his home for Memphis? Don't they already have 3 or 4 SF's? Poor b*stard. Leaving his home for Hubie and the underachievers....

Good Luck JP, you are gonna need it.

Does anyone think that this is a ploy just to get more $$ from the Rockets? Ya know, sign elsewhere just to force the Rockets' hand a little? He lives here, will get more playing time here, but he just wants more money HERE. Man I hope we resign him....

So do we agree to give up Posey for the MLE, and they don't sign Stromile Swift for the MLE, and we do (Rockets were always Swift's favorite team as a kid), and then we trade Cat and EG for Lamar Odom, and then....

What I don't get is, Memphis has the same cap problem we do. And they also have Stromile Swift to consider. So whaddup with all this?

That must be it. We're getting Stromile Swift for the MLE. Man, good thing I'm here to figure these things out.

*sigh* Good job, Les and CD.

Well I think Posey can also play and be a very good sub at SG, and if he improves on his offense he might even replace Michael Dickerson as starter.
