They said "the numbers are not yet known, however, it is reported to be more than the Rockets are able to match without trading salary and they have 15 days to make the moves and match."
I agree, he is not worth more than the exception and that is what he was offered. But what do we have next year and beyond?
Yup, this was the fear! The fear was that Memphis would sign Posey to a contract that would put the Rockets OVER our Luxary Tax threshold. Apparently this could happen for a contact that is BELOW the MLE!. Clearly we could match the Posey offer, but we can't match it without going over the LT and that is the big issue here! This is the issue that many people seem to forget. Does not look good. If only we could get ride of the dead weight that is Moochie we would be in good shape. Looks like the onus is now on CD and the Rockets to start making some moves. If we don't clear enough salary and keep Posey then we are down one key player from this team going into the season. Heck, this offseason I thought this team needed to make some MORE player additions (with Posey in the fold) and now here we are with NO player additions and the big chance for us to LOSE Posey. Not the way you want to head into the new season!
I look foward to a Rice, Boki, Juaqin rotation at small foward. Brutal. We will have the worst forwards in the league, especially when you look at Mo and Eddie. So we may have gotten rid of Kenny for nothing.

Rice and Nachbar at small forward is NOT going to cut it on this team. Moves HAVE to be made here! No quesiton! Funny, you would think other than Francis and Yao the ONE player that JVG probably most liked might have been Posey and he might be the first one out the door thanks to our crappy salary cap situation with our bloated contracts!
I say let Posey go. I believe in Rice and Nachbar. Besides I think JVG will coach the Rockets to the playoffs. Remember we have 4 very good players in Francis, Mobley, Yao, and Taylor, hopefully Griffin will get to that level too. I still believe we can do a good job without Posey. Besides, we still didn't make the playoffs last year with Posey on the team. So what's the difference?
