This should in no way be taken as a shot at this info...at all.

But does anyone else absolutely love the variety of basketball sources we get in here? Barbers, mallrats, ballboys and guys at barbques...it's a wonderful world.

As far as losing Posey, it would hurt. He is probably the only player of any note on the roster right now who won't need a game transformation to fit into what JVG is gonna want to do, aside from Yao to a degree. That said, he's not a cornerstone. Unless we're looking at winning it all this year...which we're not...I say don't sweat the small stuff. Yao, Stevie...and maybe Eddie. Those are the only key components that will still be major factors when we're making runs for the ring...the key role players don't matter all that much right now unless they can either teach the younger guys, or protect Yao. Posey does neither.

Posey barely has any hair! What is there to cut?!? Why would he tell a barber this? And why would the barber tell you what he said? Just curious...

I don't care if he resigns or not. He is not that great of a player. The only thing he has on the Hawk is rebounding and alley-oops which he blows most of the time anyways.

Tmo can also do all the things Posey does and is a better post defender and shooter.

    Guys, the facts are this......................................

Posey doesn't have people beatin down his door........

    He's a third tier player..................nobody deny's that

There is no market for him to get big money. PERIOD.
The last cats to get the big dollars are Arenas, Maggette, A Miller, and B Miller, thats it............................

The free agent market ain't what it used to be and he knows it.....Posey is a 3 to 4 million a year player tops..........

Even if a team was interested in Posey, they wouldn't offer him 50 or 60 millionover 5 years, so we're good guys.....

Keep your pants on, Posey can get the best deal right here in Space City and he knows it.

610 just reported that Posey has narrowed his decision to two teams.

    Memphis and Houston

memphis is not below the cap right??? so they must be offering a multi-year 4.9 million a year deal, something like Howards or Kandi's would be my guess.

    1. Like thats a freaking tough decision.

    2. Since he is restricted, we can match any offer from any team.

    Thanks mumu.

I'm still curious why Memphis is going after Posey. They offered for Pippy too. They've got Miller and Battier as it is, plus Dickerson and Dahntay Jones as a quartet of young wings, and Person for another year as well.

I also think if he goes to Memphis, it'll be via S/T. At least we can take comfort in the fact Jerry West wants him. :)

S/T for Person would be nice, we get a shooter and his salary off the books at the end of the season

Maybe someone can help me out on this but the way I understand RealGM is…

Memphis is at $61,319,811 salary cap if they renounce Mike Batiste.

Houston is at $51,056,570 not including Posey or the other free agents.

All Memphis has to spend is the 4.9 million exception. If Posey is really trying to decide between Houston and Memphis then I can’t imagine that Memphis has offered much more than what Houston has on the table, which is less than 3 million. Maybe Posey wants to take a 1-year deal at the qualifying offer and try free agency next year. On one hand it would be nice to see Posey for a full year before committing to him long term. On the other hand if he has a great year he could get real damn expensive and we would have no right to match any offers that Posey might sign.

In any event Les has a new arena and appears to be further under the cap than Memphis so he damn well better not let West sign Posey away from us.

I'm pretty sure they've let Batiste go. Does that number include Bryant Reeves? I believe that the league is considering not counting players in Reeves' situation (under contract, but out due to injury) for luxury tax purposes, which would give them enough breathing room to potentially offer full MCE. Just a hunch. Though I'm sure Memphis is considering the fact that Miller will be an RFA next year that they'll need to take care of.

I'd be ecstatic if we ended up getting Posey for under something like 6 years 30 mill.

Smeg- Interesting, but Person makes like 6 mill. He's an expiring contract, but I thought the whole point was Les' lux tax worries for this year?

    NIKEstrad,

I don’t know if that figure includes Reeves or not. I may not even be interpreting RealGM’s numbers correctly but the way I understand it that is the number if they renounce Batiste. According to Patricia’s site Reeves made 13mil last year. However, he is not listed under the list of individual salaries for Memphis so I don’t know what that means or when his contract expires.

yeah understand, but his contract combined with Rice's could make the trade deadline fun though.
