Are you kidding? Yeah, he's a weak shooter, but he's made great strides in that area this year. He plays some badass D and takes about a million charges a game. When he finishes, he rarely settles for a layup...he pops a jam right in the opponent's mug. He gets up the court faster than any of the Rockets. If you want to talk Charmin, talk Mo Taylor. Posey comes correct EVERY GAME, comes ready to play and ready to do what he has to do to help the team. To me, Posey is the opposite of soft. The brother's tough-nosed.
Are you directing this question to me since I said Mo's soft? If you are, come on, man. Mo is universally known as soft. He's never been even an adequate rebounder, and he constantly plays out on the perimeter. His baby hook's nice, but he's nothing close to a banger. The only thing I meant was that you can't say Posey is soft because it's nothing compared to Taylor.
Ahh yes, REPUTATION....... sorry but I watched alot of Rockets games last year (65+) and saw alot of games after the Posey trade, and I didnt see fantastic defense by him. He was not bad defensively, but he was not a shut down defender at all. He did run well for the Rockets, but is being able to run the floor wnough to pay him $5 mill+ a season? He can't shoot, he is not a smart player and is not a shut down defender.
5 years for $32m starts Posey at $5m in Year 1 and includes the CBA's standard 12.5% escalator. This is not too much and should also be a bit more than the MLE which about 23 or so team will have available to offer him. In the Rockets favor is the fact that most of the teams with cap space (SAS, Utah, LAC, DEN) aren't looking for Small Forwards. I would be very surprised if a Yr 1 of $5m isn't within a +/- 250k of what he actually signs for.
