If we end up getting Brewer or someone of that ilk I will be highly disappointed, not mildly. There is no reason this should have ever happened. We should have been picking ahead of both Minnesota and Boston.
why? we would have had the same record as both of them had we lost that denver game. just because we're the rockets doesn't mean we would automatically have picked 6th. we could very well be picking 8th as we are today.
This makes no sense to me - why would Ainge trade this year's 7th pick for the 13th pick from two years ago who is debateably a bust so far in his first two years. He hits less than 40% of his shots and can only muster 3 assists a game. This sucks. Why do we have to have so many boneheaded GMs in the league? This better be either just a rumor or part of a larger deal. Basically Portland has Houston by the &%!* now. You know if Roy is there at the 7th pick they will try and extort us for Head to switch draft spots even if they don't intend to take him. ...I still think Charlotte has the keys to this draft. They are going to make or break who falls to the Rockets and I still don't understand why the Hawks no longer want to trade the 5th spot. Nobody else wants Shelden Williams inside the top 10 - trust me, there are far better prospects. Damn you, Jordan & Ainge!!!!
um ok so you are going to turn the NBA into a tank league? Where all of the lotto teams lose 10 straight to end the season?
In my eyes it's going to be one tough call for the rockets between Brewer and Foye. I love what Brewer would bring to the rockets in size and athletism, but Foye may be the best player in this whole draft. Very tough call for CD and Morey.
On another note, I wonder if this revives the trade talk the Rockets had with Portland a few weeks ago. Any chance Miles & the number 7(or better yet 4th) go the Rockets for Juwon & Head? If that happened we might even have to change our draft strategy....
that's the game people think of because it was basically already lost. i was rooting for a loss down the stretch every night but i'm not a fan of telling our players they specifically have to lose. i'm not going to blast a team or a coach for not intentionally tanking either.
I still think the deal with Atlanta is on. I think the teams put out the smoke that it was off so as to get Minny and Boston off of Shelden. Now Boston has traded out of the 7 slot. If Shelden is on the board with Roy and Aldridge, and Thomas, then I would be willing to bet that we are able to get Atlanta to draft Roy for us. Minny is not going to pick Shelden when Aldridge and Thomas are sitting there, not to mention Foye. And Portland would have to be looking at Thomas after or Aldridge over Shelden if they are there at 7.
This sucks. I was hoping Marcus Williams would be taken at #7. Now it looks like: Bargnani Aldridge/Thomas Roy/Gay Morrison S.Williams Roy/Gay/Foye Gay/Foye/Thomas So basically that means we can forget Roy or Gay. We will now be choosing between Foye, Thomas, or maybe even Aldridge. And I don't like any of those very much. I really wanted Roy or Gay....
Apparently Portland offered Toronto #4 and Telfair for #1. Colangelo didn't feel Telfair was enough sweetener, but has made public his interest in getting another lottery pick. My thinkign is that this deal was done to satisfy Toronto, and that a trade will be announced at the draft. #1) Morrison (taken for Portland) #2) Aldridge or Thomas #3) Gay #4) Bargnani (taken for Toronto) #5) Adridge, Shelden or Tyrus #6) Roy or Tyrus #7) Brandon Roy (Toronto, with Boston's pick) Leaving some very decent players for Houston. There's a possibility that Thomas or Aldridge drop, possibly Roy, then guys like Brewer, Foye, Williams...
damn it though, Portland is not going to let either Gay or Roy get past them at #7. They will most likely end up with Aldridge+Roy at the 4th and 7th. 1. Bargnani 2. Ty Thomas 3. Morrison 4. Aldridge(they have promised him they'll take him here if avail.) 5. Shelden Williams 6. Randy Foye 7. Roy or Gay 8. Roy or Gay that's best case scenario there...
I'd bet that Portland picks whomever is left of Roy and Morrison at #4, and O'Bryant at #7. They desparately need good bigs, O'Bryant (or Aldridge if he's left) is the smart pick. But because O'Bryant hasn't been the hype and will take some development, he wouldn't be a popular pick. The question is why Boston did this. Telfair is more of a project now as a 2-year veteran than Marcus Williams as a rookie.
The Bos-Portland trade may really hurt our plan! According to ESPN's Chad Ford Boston HAS agreed to send the 7th and Dickau to Portland for Telfair. We may have no chance to land either Roy or Gay!
BEST CASE SCENARIO 1. Bargnani 2. Ty Thomas 3. Morrison 4. Aldridge(they have promised him they'll take him here if avail.) 5. Shelden Williams 6. Randy Foye 7. Roy or Gay 8. Roy or Gay All I can think of right now, Portland guarenteed Aldridge that they will take him at #4. I think Charlotte, and Minnesota controls our destiny
