Rodriguez is in his third year and third option. His shooting is %s is worse than Rafer's. Adelman won't play him. Let Portland continue their gamble on that one.

If they trade for potential it's got to be Fernandez.

You have no idea how strongly I hope you are right. I have wanted Rafer gone since after his first three games, when it was easy to determine that he lacks a consistent shot. How could the scouts have missed that ? I remember thinking, I hope this kid is an unbelievable playmaker, because he can't shoot worth a flip.

also isn't Battier like the worst rebounding SF in the NBA?

Battier can shoot open 3's. He play some mean face-guarding defense.

Sadly, he cannot create, I can understand Morey when he thinks we need a bit more offense from a SF.

If this is true, then it's obvious that Morey feels that

    1. No one's untouchable

    and

    2. Our offense SUCKS.

Battier is a great player, but he's like a rich man's Adam Everret. Great on a team where everyone else can pick up the slack offensively.

I'm really wondering who Morey is targeting in the offseason. We NEED that 3rd scorer BADLY.

Rockets shooting was below league averages.

Rockets had the 10th worst FG% and were the 5th worst 3P shooting team in the league this season.

another guy i can add to my list of formerly overrated players who are now widely overrated.

Granted, he should have never been the go to guy of a team like he was in Cleveland. He is clearly better than any of our non-tmac guards. He would be an excellent pick up if we could get him without giving up a player, for cheap.

Teams that depend on an offensively dominant swingman are bacteria.

Teams without a dominant swingman, like the Jazz, are viruses.

Battier is an antibiotic. :p

I remember hearing rumors about a trade with the Blazers this past offseason.

It was something like Battier for Outlaw and Jarret Jack or something like that. I'd rather have Sergio Rodriguez.

But if it's revisited again, I'd do the trade if it included Fernandez.

Anyone know how Outlaw's defense is? He seems athletic enough to guard the perimeter one-on-one well.

oh crap, i messed up again. He's was overrated now underrated.

I'm not down for trading Battier for Outlaw though. As far as overrall effectiveness, i think that would be a lateral move at best.

I think that would be a decent trade if we could get more pieces out of it. If we could gather enough talent to make it were we only have REAL NBA players on the court at all time i would be happy. No more Head-Novak-Hayes-Harris.

I don't know...Rudy Gay is a more talented offensive player, but Battier on a similar roster won 50 games. I think it's harder to find guys like Battier than to get wing players who can score. If we can swing Sergio and Rudy Fernandez, sure, but Travis Outlaw and Jarret Jack? I can't see it. I'm open to getting crazy ass Artest, but that's another thread.

He doesn't play basketball the right way. He's a stat padding me first guy who doesn't seem to even care about winning. He kind of reminds of me of Starbury.

The ONLY way I'd take a gamble on him is if we got him practically free and he understood he was going to be offense off the bench.

I'd be much more interested in Stephen Jackson. He's got some of the same problems, but he seems to be a much more fierce competitor.

ok i know how about we give up battier, francis, head for Vince carter
    rafer, vince, tmac,scola, yao
they want to get rid of vince
    we want scoring
they wont double tmac as much cuz they avhe to guard vince and yao as well
and for the nets they get a defender to help haris and jefferson as well as a back up with head, though i think they need help in the front court we could give landry or scola up but right now we need one of them atleast

Trading Battier for anything less than an all star would be idiotic. When and if Yao is healthy, he is as important as anyone in the lineup. Right now he has an undefined role and is asked to score more than when Yao is there. Would be very surprised if Morey moved him.

    you're right on all accounts...

but the point i was getting at is that he has much more talent than most of our players. It would basically be a bonzi type deal accept Ricky can hit his 3s, is much more atheletic and can take most guys off the dribble. He would fit nicely on our team because he has multiple skills that most guys on our team don't have.

Stephen Jackson is a team captain and the 2nd option on the Warriors making significant money while Davis has an almost identical skill set and can be had for cheap because he is thought of the same way Jackson was around the NBA last year.
