Wow! I didn't think there would be so many people in support of acquiring Sabonis. So I guess the real questions here are four: 1) Will Sabonis play next year? 2) How much money will he expect? 3) Which of our own FA's must we lose in order to get Sabonis? (Bull? SA?) 4) Do CD and RT feel as we do? ------------------ Mr. President. No man thinks more highly than I of three legged cows. They deserve to live. On my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of reason. Cows with three legs are good. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth : three-legged cows are better. They are better because the meat on them is better. The steaks are more tender. Three-legged cows tend not to wander as much. These cows could be the symbol of our country. The world would look upon us with great respect. They will want our cows and pay good money for them. The cows could symbolize freedom and hard work and three legs are better than four. They are meant for us; they can be meant for no other.
Sabonis in pinstripes, just can't see it...without laughing my a$$ off. Hope we get him, though. I'd say the Rockets would have the most implacable duo of centers with him and Hakeem. ------------------
Yeah! Get Sabas! So his knees are a little creeky..nothin like a little warm houston humidity to loosen them up. Plus, I could get a job as his translator! Drex22- The Blazers are owned by Paul Allen, the guy that founded Microsoft with Bill Gates. That guy has more money than he knows what to do with. I don't even think they're sweating about the luxury tax this year. ------------------
My view from afar: 1) For a contender. 2) $2M-$3M 3) Bull (Full Bird) and Moochie (Early Bird) are not affected by persuing Sabonis. With 500K to Morris the Rockets have about $16.0M to sign Dream, Mo T, & SA. The following scenario makes room for Arvydas: Dream - $6.5M Mo T - $5.0M > has Early Bird next season Shandon - $2.5M > has Full Bird after next season There is $2.0M left for Sabonis. The harder Dream pushes above and beyond $7.5M, the harder it is to sign SA. 4) Probably not. They'd probably go with Axel Dench if there is less than $2M left. ----------------- Raef to Rocks in '01-'02! [This message has been edited by GATER (edited July 16, 2001).]
Allen my have billions, but he's not going to pay twice as much for Sabonis as what the next highest bidder will. Which is in effect what the Luxury Tax would do to him. There's a difference between wealthy and stupid. ------------------ Raef to Rocks in '01-'02!
Shark, you could be right.I might be overstating that part, but I still believe him to be right there in the top 5 at worst...and yeah Bill Walton could deal. You play for john Wooden and you sure as heck better be able to pass that ball.He was a great player until those injuries got him.... OMT...Alvin Adams is often overlooked(just like I did),but what he lacked in athletic ability he sure made up for with his other skills... ------------------ Everybody has a little bit of Watergate in em - Billy Graham [This message has been edited by hardwood (edited July 16, 2001).]
i'd sign just about any center i could get that are basically better than the kelvin cato of 2001. i mentioned before in a thread, even before chuckybrownfanclub, that i thought cato would play better next year. but still its better to have another center and be safe than gamble on a starting cato. ------------------
Sabonis for $2.5 mill exception? I'll take em'! Who would'nt he's got offense and standard nba defense, but for 2.5 mill, what else could you asked for.:rolleye hopin' this freak won't give away too many shots) ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
