What do you guys think of this trade: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lowrjm Similar to the Utah/Portland/Chicago trade except we replace Portland's cap space with McGrady's contract and take Kirilenko and Hinrich. Utah might prefer this deal as it dumps Kirilenko's contract (we know they've tried to trade Kirilenko for McGrady's contract before) saving them money in 2010/11, and McGrady's insurance helps cover their lux tax fees when they resign Millsap. Both Thomas and McGrady are expirings so it gets them capspace for 2010 FAs. Depending on how badly they want to resign Milsap, we might be able to squeeze a pick out of them too. Chicago gets exactly what they want in Boozer for Hinrich and Tim Thomas. For Houston, Kirilekno adds front court depth and makes Landry or Scola expendable in a trade. We can keep Hinrich who I think is a great backcourt partner for Brooks, or we can see how much Pritchard wants him. Hinrich for Pryz+Rudy? Between Hinrich, Battier, Scola and Landry we should enough assets to swing a trade for a C.
Yes, I know because if you go back to one of the earlier Dallas - Toronto trade threads, I was the one who suggested that Memphis might become involved to handle the paperwork on Stackhouse. Even if Utah would have had to send a few million along with Boozer to make the deal fly (not take back Q), it would likely be cheaper overall than the prospects that they are currently facing. Memphis had Cap Space and was shopping for a PF. The Clippers took advantage of the opportunity while Utah didn't.
Jazz to match Blazers' offer for Millsap The Utah Jazz will match the Portland Trail Blazers' offer for Paul Millsap, which will keep the forward in Utah. Millsap, who is 6-foot-8 and attended Louisiana Tech, averaged 13.5 points a game last season for the Jazz. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/nba/07/16/millsap.jazz/index.html
Because some <i>Einsteins</i> on the BBS like to start new threads and claim that they are providing something new & distinct. If the thread title is Updated, then they are unable to make that claim.
I'm willing to bet that there was a trade in place between Portland and Houston contingent on Portland acquiring Milsap. I guess we can nix that speculation now
Because they still need size, and right now, the centers they have are a "6-6" power forward with limited offensive skills and limited minutes due to foul trouble and a "6-11" Euro center that has not played a minute of NBA basketball. Przybilla has good size, takes up space in the paint, plays decent defense, rebouinds, and can stay on the court.
Blazers have $7.7M of cap space. If they renounce Freeland & Koponen it's $8.9M. Trading Batum + rights to Freeland & Koponen for a TE would open up the cap space to absorb Kirk Hinrich's contract. If there are any legs to the Boozer for Hinrich deal. Portland can join in and save the Jazz from LT this season.
30 isnt old. Also, we need big guys...we are in desperate need of someone that can take up space in the paint. Yes, he isnt a star, but he is definitely serviceable.
I don't think that they are that desperate to get Hinrich, who isn't all that much better than what they have. Helping them out after trying to put them under pressure with Millsap makes no sense at all.
I think the Blazers are high on Batum and trading him might not be an option. He started most of the games and had a good rookie season.
jazz matches SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Paul Millsap is staying with the Utah Jazz. The Jazz on Friday matched the Portland Trail Blazers' $32 million offer for the restricted free agent, keeping Millsap in Utah with a new four-year deal. Portland frontloaded the offer with a guarantee of $10.3 million up front and the Jazz were willing to pay up to keep Millsap, a second-round surprise in the 2006 draft. Utah had seven days to match the offer and made the division rival Trail Blazers wait the full week before Friday's announcement. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/nba/07/17/jazz.millsap.ap/index.html
