Getting Odom would be interesting for the Blazers. First, they disrupt the plans of the Lakers. The Blazers basically block one of the major piece of the Lakers. It would be a big blow for the defending champs. Second, they get bigger and more athletic up front. Lastly, they gain a veteran who could help Roy guide this team especially in the playoffs.
Doubt Portland focuses on Ariza now... I could be wrong, but they wanted another ball-handler and playmaker, not a better version of Travis Outlaw.
Andre Miller or a chance at Kidd would be or should be the main targets of Portland. You wont get any better play makers then both in the free agency.
Interesting. I am of the opinion that Odom makes the most sense for them too. Unless, for some reason, the knucklehead factor of Odom is more of a factor for Pritchard than anything else. Odom is superior to Miller in all facets. Miller doesn't bring much more than Blake does at this point in his career, especially working alongside Roy, who should be handling the ball most of the time anyways. But if Portland wants to chew up their cap space with a PG on the downside who cannot hit a jump shot, whose game revolves around controlling the ball and dishing, if Portland wants to make Roy the receiver instead of the facilitator, I'm all for it.
Folks, Ariza had a chance to get more money with Toronto. He passed. He passed on more money because he liked the vibe in Houston. So 'more money' from Portland is not going to change his mind. Ariza is a Rocket.
Yeah, apparently Ariza feels wanted/needed here from some article I read from Chron. So, it's the principle, not the money!
