Greg Oden, Josh McRoberts, Channing Frye, Rudy Fernandez, Petteri Koponen, Derrick Byars. Portland is getting crazy.

    * oh yeah, and steve francis. He's going to be the emilio estevez to the mighty ducks.

I've been on board ever since they dumped Cheeks and signed Sarge. McMillan is the type of coach who will get these guys playing hard every night, the right way. He doesn't take any garbage from players and these young guys will be groomed and disciplined to be something special.

I'm not so sure they will make the playoffs next season. Remember how tough the Western Conference is.

Portland is going to trade everyone away. They added like 9 players. Some big deals are gonna be on the horizon.

ok so i remember at the end of last season watching a portland game on league pass where they were selling a pair of season tickets for 880 total. yeah they were in the upper section but imagine what those seats would fetch now.

portland fans should be in for a real treat

especially considering that i think miles and francis come off the same year before any of their core rookies have to have their contracts extended so they'll also have a lot of money to throw at a big FA in a couple of years. and also if they win and start selling i dont think allen will have any problems paying for the luxury tax at all if he has to to keep some of the players.

    great times for that franchise

If Portland is smart, they would buy out Steve Francis' contract and figure out a way to rid themselves of Darius Miles. Looking at their roster alone should put fear in the Western Conference of the future.

    Starting Lineup
    PG: Jack
    SG: Roy
    SF: Outlaw
    PF: Aldridge
    C: Oden

    ^Damn, that's not even fair.

Exactly. A guy like LaMarcus would be prime to leave. He'll get a great offer somewhere else and be out of Oden's shadow. It's like having 2 good runningbacks on a team. Eventually one is gonna go. They may say that they are building for the future but they need to win soon.

Mneh.. we can take them. Aaron Brooks will destroy all of their rooks this year :)

I think they'll barely miss out on the 8th spot this year. I think the season after next will show how good they really are. All it takes is one good injury. I hope this club is gonna turn out to be one of those overhyped clubs.

The Portland radios have been talking about Olden/Aldrige and the possibilities of having two elite seven footers in their prime at the same time and how that has never happened before (Robinson was on his down side when Duncan joined the Spurs). The key to this team though, is that they have to get rid of Darius Miles, which isn't going to be easy.

Also, Stevie is getting a buyout. He doesn't want to come to a rebuilding situation at all.

Lets throw out the Greg Oden pick, Portland had a fantastic draft, ON PAPER. It's like they picked up ESPN's 'best available' player every time they picked. Besides the wheeling and dealing, most of us could have drafted for Portland.

Take the Mcroberts pick for example, when Portland came up I thought, man I'd take Mcroberts here and look at that they did take Mcroberts. Portland agrees with me, you, Jay Bilas, Chad Ford that Mcroberts was the best remaining, therefore Portland must be smart, never mind that you and I don't know squat about Mcroberts and Bilas and Ford aren't good judges of talent. Now contrast that to the Landry pick, I didn't even know that Houston was making the pick, I saw Seattle, I saw Mcroberts left on the board, I scratched my head when the pick was Landry. I'd never heard of Landry before, Chad Ford and Jay Bilas are telling me that Landry is ranked low, therefore that must have been a terrible pick.

Darius Miles is a non-factor in all of this. The Blazers will decide if they let him see the court again because they don't need him any more to field a decent team. If I were them, I'd cut Miles and tell him to take a hike or trade him to a team dumb enough to take him.

They look good on paper, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Let's see what they can do on gameday.

I wouldn't mind Portland being stuck in mediocrity for a few more yrs, we don't need another power house in the West.
