For a league that is basically divided up into 2 conferences (I still see no point in the divisions) and play a total of 82 games, 4 games each (3 depending on the draw) in your own conference, and 2 games each against the opposing conference, having half your league make it to the playoffs....no, this has nothing to do with state bragging rights at all. You're smart enough to know Rockets haven't got past the first round in ages. They made it to the playoffs 3 times this decade and that's it. There's no rivalry amongst these teams. I'm sure the league agrees with me because they managed to put the first game against Dallas on a Monday night that wasn't nationally televised. Just think about that for a second. This isn't like hockey where your "point" matter. Here, a win is a win is a win...I don't care how you get it. Half the teams making it to the playoffs is a joke (didn't Mavericks clinch a playoff berth in early March?) I just watch this game for entertainment purposes. I've been a fan of this game for years now and know that teams come out and shoot VERY POORLY on some occasions and there's nothing you can do about it.

This is absolutely absurd. They are an NBA team. If you made it into this league, you are amongst the best in the world. On any given night, any NBA team has a chance of beating another NBA team. It's as simple as that. If this was the case, Mavs would've been lost only 3 games last year in the regular season (all to GS) and end up with a record of 79-3. Back in the days Bulls should have never lost a single game in the regular season. But didn't they? Why is that? I don't believe in upsets in regular season play at all

Oh, don't worry about me, I understand completely. However, I want you to go to a Mavs forum and look at how many posts they have in any game day thread. It's never more than a 100. It just seems like they really don't care; it's an 82 game preseason. Obviously regular season doesn't matter, everyone's ultimate goal is a championship. This is apparent in the Mavs new approach to the long season. On off days, they actually have off days where they can relax and work out. There are no formal practices. Hell, I'm sure this was a deciding factor for Juwan. What veteran NBA player would rather practice than stay at home and rest their bodies? But you wouldn't know this because you guys think losing in a preseason game (actual preseason) is the end of the world, lol

It's not our fault you girls are flopping off the Mav bandwagon.

For a team that has absolutely ZERO history or championships, you Mavs fans sure talk alot of crap.

    No

No, WildSweet&Cool lives a sad life, not Mikeylu. I didn't want to make 2 whole posts just to confirm it

Actually no, I don't get in anybody's way. It's not really offending. Wasn't I the one who threw out all the stats? I'm the one who said Mavs missed their first 14 shots to open the second half. They sucked tonight, no doubt. But not enough to warrant throwing my phone at the tv and breaking it (I did this once when I was still a Rockets fan)

I live in this NBA dish. I know how many Mavs threads pop up. When I go back home to my other computer I'll post a picture of a screenshot showing 7 of the first 12 threads involving the Mavericks. Why don't you go back to the main NBA Dish page and hit replies. You'll see 4 Mavs threads, 2 Bucks, 1 CHI, 1 Denver, 1 NJ, 1 MIA, 1 Sonics, 1 on the Lakers owner's daughter  , 1 on the Suns, 1 on the Bobcats, 1 on JVG, and another on flopping. Oh yes, I'm a homer so I notice only the Mavs threads

And of course, when you go to the "Official I hate the Spurs" page you'll see many people saying they "dislike the spurs, but detest the Mavs with all their heart." Tell me how this makes any sense? Spurs are closer to Houston, are now considered a dynasty, and above all, the defending NBA champs. Yet, you still want to hate the Mavs more

If it's so easy then explain this:

    http://www.nba.com/games/20070404/GSWHOU/boxscore.html

Why did Yao only have 4 shots??

If this bothers you then I have one piece of advice, stay the f*** out of here. It doesn't matter that this is the NBA Dish...it is still a Rocket's fan site that wants to talk about other teams and not have it all mashed together. You go to any other site and they're the same way, you should know that seeing as though you're on so many other sites. If you're going to be an oversensitive moron because we hate your team and then try to talk some crap to get back at us, then you're ALWAYS going to get some grief and ultimately banned in the end like so many others have been.
BTW, what's your deal? When did you become the Mav's avenger? And are you really that stupid to think that this board will tolerate one?

I honestly think that out of all the elite teams, the Mavs get the most hate... by FAR... and given their image (and owner), its definitely deserved.

Kenny said it best... GS exposed them as a FRANCHISE... and until they prove otherwise (ie - winning it all), they will be ridiculed as such (soft).

Being a Mavs fan right now is equivalent to being a fan of the mid 90's Suns... except that Barkley was much more loved/popular than Dirk ever will be.

redefined lives a sad life imo

to go from a rockets fan one decade to a mavs fan the next....

that seems to be more of a joke than true fans starting threads of division rivals losing games

dont convert back to a rockets fan when the mavs are in the lottery

Comparing game day thread post counts is ridiculous. How many active posters do your Mavs "fan" sites have compared to CF?

Guess what, we hate the Mavs, you'll just have to live with that.

Yeah, so they're only going to show 2 out of the 4 the games between on national television, big deal. They're not going to show the Mavs against the Spurs on Dec 5 on national tv. Does that make the Spurs less of a rival?

Who cares if the Mavs clinched a playoff berth in early March, regular season games mean nothing. By your logic, the way the Mavericks made it into the playoffs is a joke since they ended with 67-15 and lost to an 8th seed. Playoffs games is where it matters. Hell look at the Spurs, they coast through the season and then turn it on in the playoffs.

Apparently you have a reading comprehension because I just said that they were humans and will slip up now and then (which means that they will games to any given team just in case you didn't understand it again this time). Yeah, you don't believe in upsets in regular season at all because regular season games mean nothing, yet you brag about the Mavs record last season. Yeah, okay that make sense. But I guess you do believe in upsets in the playoffs. At least when the Rockets got knocked out of the playoffs in this decade, it was never an upset because we were never the top dog.

Yeah, let's focus on that bunch of teenagers who overreacted over a preseason game and let them reflect the rest of the BBS as a whole.

Well, at least I made you look at the Mavs schedule ;) . Anyways, if you looked closely enough you would've seen that every PHX game is on national TV and 3 out of 4 Spurs games will also be nationally televised. Not bad. I guarantee you if NBA thought this was a huge rivalry, they would've at least made 3 games on national TV. Even every single game against the Nuggets is nationally televised. That's funny

No, I think you missed the point entirely. I was saying that half the league makes the playoffs. When one team clinches a spot with more than 2 months to play in regular season, then it's a joke of a system. We both agree playoffs is the only thing that matters. With that said, Mavs losing to the Warriors in the playoffs was an upset, but only because of the seeding. I'm pretty sure if Davis wasn't injured half the season they would've had a better record, but I don't want to get into all that. However, your logic is off a little. Maybe if this 67 team lost to the Lakers or Kings in the first round, it would've been a joke. But let me remind you, Warriors beat the Mavs every game in the regular season. They were the only team they couldn't beat. They did lose the series 4-2. Warriors had their number going into the playoffs and they still currently do. The previous season Mavs lost to the Warriors 3 out of 4 times. So if I do the math correctly this means that in the past 14 games Mavs have lost 10 of them. That is horrible.

I remember you saying that, but then you came right back and said, "In all of those games, the better and more "elite" team won their game." I'm not buying into this because of the "Atlanta, are they for real" thread. The Hawks beat both Dallas and PHX and yet you still see posts like "call me when they get a road win" and of course my favorite, "They started off good last year too but looked how they ended up by April... Its too early to tell. Sometimes bad teams beat good teams, it happens." Besides, Harris didn't even play last night...

Rockets were the top dogs against Utah IMO. I thought they were going to destroy them. Oh well, it happens. Besides, having a 2-0 lead and then coming home to play ('04 series) changes the whole topdog/underdog thing. Oh well, that happens too

    Yeah, fine

Just to emphasize the only important point in this entire thread.

    Rockets - 2 Championships

    Mavericks - 0

    Period.

Okay, I see now, but for future reference, when you quote someone and type underneath it and say "YOU," that means you are talking to the person you quoted. COMMON SENSE. you don't have to make two different posts to talk to two different people

    1 YI
    2 Kobe to Mavs
    3 Kobe to Bulls
    4 Denver
    5 Boki
    6 Juwan signs with Mavs
    7 Heat/Wolves Trade
    8 Yi
    9 Sonics to OKC
    10 Kobe Trades
    11 Jeannie Buss
    12 Mavs vs Kings Ejection
    13 Warriors vs Mavs
    14 Lakers vs Suns
    15 Nash

Yeah I'd say you are being oversensitive to Mavs threads. I did what you said and clicked on replies in the NBA dish. Of the first 15 I see, there are 4 Mavs threads like you said. All of them are recent news that basically ANY place/forum/news will talk about. Of those 4 Mavs threads, one of them was a Kobe trade talk. Another was a former Rocket JHo signing with the mavs, another was talk about an ejection, and the last was a game thread. Basically, you are complaining that there is chat of recent NBA news in the dish. By your logic, it's okay for a Laker fan to be in this forum complaining because there are 5 threads in this forum about Kobe/Lakers in the top 15 threads of the NBA dish.

"We just didn't have it tonight,'' Dallas coach Avery Johnson said. "The other team was better. We can't just show up and expect to win. We need our hard hats on and our thinking caps on every night and we just didn't have it tonight.''

    Haha...what a lady

Come on I thought you were smarter than that. That has got to be the easiest question I have ever been asked! The answer:

Dirk is the gay lover of the NBA Ref's Association. They love to let his stupid flops pass, while Yao gets fathom fouls called on him! The Ref's don't allow Yao to stay in the game b/c they call fouls on him when the offensive players jumps into him.

Still, Dirk is the biggest p*ssy in the NBA and anyone who disagrees is living in a fantasy world. Yao doesn't like to hide at the 3-point line like Dirk.

Who is this choad? I haven't posted in a while but this S-For-Brains makes me want to vomit. Please, stay at home and remember the "glory days" of one of the most pathetic basketball teams in the NBA. Where where you before 2000? I have serious doubts that you were a Mavs "fan"...MFFL right?--eat it.
