OK, I've been playing with the Dell all evening. I'm already in love. It came with a remote control for free, which is an awesome little tiny device that will let me clip the MP3 player to my waistband while I'm at the gym. 20GB is closer to 18GB (not sure why. I know firmware doesn't take up 20GB!!!) Also has a microphone to record voice. Acts as a portable HD too. Nice, blue-lit backscreen and turn wheel makes menus very easy to navigate. I'll post more after using it at the gym tomorrow.
2 things about dell that sucks 1. the scroll thing isnt all that good 2. you cant upload the voice recordings to a computer.
1. Please elaborate. I haven't seen any problems, but I've admittedly only played with it for 3 hours. 2. I have no need to upload voice recordings. The only reason I'll use the voice recorder is to "write" sports columns and hash out ideas for sports columns while I work out. That is when I do my best thinking. At 5am.
dont remmeber what exactly, but I used it for a month this june, after using my ipod for almost a year, and I just didnt like the feeeling of a little bump on the player sticking out. Its easy to find and all, but its just not as good as the wheel.
drapg, I heard that, with the Dell MP3 player, when you play a song in the middle of an album, and that song ends, the Jukebox will NOT automatically go to the next song (i.e. it'll stop playing). Is that true? Can you test it?
I think that happened with me too, i couldn't get it to play the next song unless i was in a playlist.
I've been reading up on MP3 players lately and I've read alot of good things about the Creative Zen Touch. http://creative.com/products/product.asp?prodid=10274
Thanks for the info and comments. I am leaning towards the Ipod, but the Creative looks pretty sharp. Anyone have experiences with those? Also, what are the best FM transmitters?
Doesn't it have an adapter to plug into your car? When I broadcast using the built-in FM modulator on the Neuros, I just plug the MP3 player into the car. No steenkin' batteries needed.
the FM tuner? nope it has 2 AAA batteries. It sucks ,there are some newer FM tuners that plug right into the ipod and use its battery, and very very little battery at that. I would look into getting one of those.
i bought a 40 gig ipod about 2 weeks ago and so far it's awesome. i love the wheel and of course the design. when i had a creative nomad before it broke i tried an fm transmitter but thought the sound quality was average at best. i don't know maybe there are some better ones out now. anyways if anyone has an ipod and wants to put it in their car alpine just released a pretty cool interface but the catch is you have to have one of their head units. if you're looking into getting a new car stereo and you happen to have an ipod i'd check it out. http://www.alpine-usa.com/
Well, there are 2 options: 1. Play track (when you're inside an album) 2. Play album. If you pick option 1, it only plays the selected track inside the album, then stops. But if you pick option 2, it plays all the tracks in an album without stopping. Hope that helps!
I don't understand. That sounds right to me. But I don't play music by albums, I play by playlists. Actually, I have all of my MP3s in a single playlist and just shuffle through them. I also have them categorized by genre, so when I'm at the gym, I won't get some slow love song while I'm trying to get pumped up.
