I've lived in NY and only visited Chicago. But NY doesn't have the lake. It has neighborhoods that for tourism purposes are really more defined and touristy stuff, like china town, little Italy, etc. Chicago has those types of areas too, but they seemed more accessible as far as tourism goes in NY. It just depends on what you like to do. They are definite differences, though.

i've been many times to venice and yes, it is touristy and smelly but...
    it is beautiful.

was at the biennale last summer and there were more new yorkers there than italians. the venetian shops raised the price of everything. prolly best to go in the off season. but for people watching, nothing beats the biennale.

I live in Chi also and have been to NY. NY is just a lot bigger in size when you compare the two. Brooklyn can actually be it's own city and would be larger than a lot of current cities in the U.S. Strictly speaking though, I compare Manhattan to the Loop and upwards towards Evanston. In that regard, they're pretty similar but NY is just more crowded and as someone said Chicago is just more accessible. I find this to be the case at night also, though on the weekends that always changes. To me, NY is more unique in that regard though, You're not really going to find another city with that many amount of people but if there's one city you can compare NY to, it's definitely Chi.

    Dallas. Where's my rep!?

I have to agree with Venice being smelly! It stunk so bad!

You guys have to remember that the parts of Mexico are dangerous, not the whole country. It's like saying USA is dangerous just because the crime is really bad in Miami, Detroit, and etc. Traveling to Monterrey, Matamoros, and etc is DANGEROUS but to Riviera Maya, not so much. Hubby and I are planning our 4th trip back to Riviera Maya this year. We saw the Mayan Ruins almost two years ago and it was amazing. We also visited Coba (another ruins) and Tulum Ruins. Tulum has to be one of the most beautiful places on the earth. You don't get to see ruins against the gorgeous ocean everyday.

Miami, I've been twice. I don't mind not going back. It is just a party scene. It is ghetto outside of South Beach.

Vegas, would go back. It's fun!

I am dying to go to NYC and experience the culture. I went for one day when I was visiting New Jersey (another place I won't go back. Nothing is there)

    1. Anywhere in the hotbed of the Middle East.

    2. Disney World/Disney Land: I hated Disney, when I was little. I went with my family when I was 10, I did not like it. I liked city, but I could do without Disney World/Magic Kingdom/VOMIT LAND.

My mom always wanted to go to DC for vacation when I was younger but me nor my dad had any interest in going. I've been here for work for the past few days and really love the area.

I don't understand that town's fascination with Go Kart tracks. I saw two tracks for every one block, for about 2 miles not exaggerating.

Because when you get kicked off the track for having fun you need another place to get your revenge. I can't think of too many places I haven't been kicked out of. lol - good times.
