Pops is eager to play Kings 5 hours ago, so I don't consider this cut is under good terms.

I'm guessing the rockets don't believe dorsey, cook, or pops wil get much PT this year. Out of those 3, Cooks earns the most, and is expiring, so he may be needed as trade bait. Dorsey is a different player than Pops, possibly what houston wants and therefore is willing to give him more time to develop. That leaves Pops as the odd man out between the 3. So again, i think they just did him a favor and this was the best time since they may need an extra PG soon. Even if they dont sign or call someone up until next week or a few days, pops will still appreciate it was done sooner than later.

Douby got cut because his contract becomes guaranteed today if he is not cut. Perhaps something similar is in Pops' contract. Remember, the Rockets are over the tax limit by several million dollars-- if Pops is paid $800K, it counts as doublt that... and if Pop's $800K is the difference between getting under the limit and not, that's an extra $2 or 3 million difference due to distribution of certain escrow funds that tax-paying teams don't get to share. So... his $800K contract might end up costing the team almost $4-5 million. In that case it's just not a smart move to retain a 12th man at that price.

so it's not a possibility that they called him in after that to tell him? If i'm pops, a struggling pro player trying to make a team and make some steady money, i dont want to sit through a game i'm not going to play in when i can be speaking to my agent about a possible next deal.

Yeah, it sure feels that way. Is Conroy signed to a Chinese team? Brooks' ankle has been bothering him and he didn't look like himself the last game. A big makes the most sense, but it'd be nice to have Conroy right now.

That's a spin which doesn't make a lot business sense. He's valuable even as a practice player. He played hard to stay on the team, and he's eager to play against Kings. I don't see how he'd " appreciate " Rockets for make him jobless, unless he asked for it.

    It is under good terms.

Pops is not that kind of person, He is just happy to be alive and in the NBA.

If Pops is traded to another team to get playing time, it makes sense too. Going jobless? I highly doubt that. His agent can still work deal for him when he's on Rockets, Rockets would let him go any time he wants to.

He will be getting payed to play professional basketball somewhere. Like always, he will have a good attitude and be a great addition to any team...

Choujie, imo, you are making a bigger deal out of the situation that is. We cut Pops Mensa Bonsu. Not McGrady, not Yao, not Brooks, not anyone else but Pops. The same Pops that sits on the bench all game long and doesn't play. The same Pops that is a career journeyman thus far. The same Pops that has been to the State of Texas(and played for all 3 teams) and back. He was cut. What is the big deal? He didnt play. He wasnt a significant piece that we let go of. Another move may happen, maybe not. Dont look into it so much.

He might, but that can't explain why Rockets cut him at this moment. He's a good addition to Rockets too since there are only 4 bigs actually playing, any of them could get injured or sick at any given moment. Something deosn't sound right here.

he's not going to be jobless if he has offers waiting, like i mentioned a few times already. Most NBA players that get cut once the season starts are good enough to find work overseas somewhere. Is getting 2 or 3 days more of pay here worth missing out on a season long contract overseas ?? Like i said before, it wouldnt be the first time the rockets did something like that as a favor for a player.

I think it's more likely that Brooks' injury became more serious than expected and that's why they had to make a sudden move, than pops blowing up or something and houston basically firing him.

why would his agent be working on deals to get him out of an nba contract to go overseas or soemtihng worse? If he's on an nba team and the team still wants him, that makes zero sense for Pops. Players dont get on NBA teams to wait for an overseas offer, it's the other way around.

    I agree.

I find it amusing that you think it was his attitude or whatever... He is not "that" guy...

As for Rashad, well, "The Rockets General Manager said McCants presented with an abdomen problem and would not be able to participate in the camp. He also said he would still consider Rashad down the track once healthy."

I doubt it though... Hopefully It's Tracy!:)

I agree with you, it's not a big deal. Do I care Pops got cut that much? Of course now.
But the situation sounds fishy, I just had a second guess for the reason of this move. Nothing more.
