They have more options up front in case of injury. If Scola goes down, they still have Landry, Hayes and Andersen to fill the 2 front court spots, as well as the option of actuallying playing Cook or Dorse, and the option of going small some minutes and stick Battie or Ariza at the 4.

On the other hand, if Brooks can't go, right now, the option is playing Lowry 48 minutes or playing him 40+ and praying Budinger or someone can handle 5-8 mins of PG duty.

Yes, Toronto waived a player this morning. Something has to be in the works. The rotation is set and running well so there's no need to make a move just to clear some space. The only thing could be that Pops' patience ran out and he wanted out to go play maybe back in Toronto. We'll see.

ok, i just said brooks already had the injury, i think that's a higher priority than "what if" an injury happened to our bigs. One already happened. Also, they dont necessarily have to sign someone like a FA, they could call someone up from the VIpers, which would be immediate i believe, so for all we know they already have someone coming or they're just a phone call away. And once again, it may be a courtesy to Pops, if he's getting better offers elsewhere in the NBA or overseas and they dont see him getting minutes here then they may do it as a favor to him. It's happened before here. If he's going overseas they may be able to just call him back later, or maybe they thinkt hey can call up a PF who's just as effective as he is.

Looking at the most current events:

    - McGrady oversteps his bounds, again.
    - Rockets say McGrady is not coming back anytime soon.
    - Dorsey gets moved to D-League
    - Pops Mensah-Bonsu gets cut

Fact: McGrady's contract demands a 2-1 deal unless he is traded for one of the top players in the league (Not Gonna Happen!)

    Prediction: TRADE TIME!

Let's see if they call somebody today. My point is, they can wait until the day they have some other action, if not, something behind the scene might have happened. Let's wait and see.

I do wish they would have cut Dorsey and kept Pops.

I like your analysis of the current scenario. Of course I doubt T-crap is going to get traded right now.. If anything they sign the backup PG from the Vipers or get Will Conroy (if he is still available).

If they get a PG today, it makes sense. Otherwise, it doesn't make too much sense. They can wait until that happens. Pops is not making millions.

how much is pops making? peanuts, right? And it's not like he at the end of a multi-year deal. I don't buy the lux tax saving line of logic at all.
I cannot imagine a scrub like Pops could have any run-ins with the coach, or teammates. He doesn't have a status to make troubles. So I don't buy the trouble making line of logic either.
    That leaves us, trade! Yeah.

Guys I'm searching everywhere but is Will Conroy still playing? I've checked the D-League and he's not a player affiliated with them. No talks of him overseas either.

I have a feeling that they are telling the truth. This was strictly to open up the possibility of calling up or signing another guard.

Some might say that the Rockets could just cut Pops when/if they needed a new guard, but maybe Pops was hinting that he wanted to explore different teams that could offer him the playing time he deserves.

i cant see them making a move like that because something happened behind closed doors. It would be rushing to a conclusion and would disrupt the team right before a game. They probably would just bench him or leave him at home untilt hey can deal with it the next day or something.

Wafer didn't have the right to make trouble either. But he did. It can cause frustration when a player sits on the bench all game long.
I'm not saying Pops is a troube maker, but he could have expressed his displeasure for lack of playing time and Rockets decide to let him go.

Last I heard he was exploring playing in China. The season there doesn't start until December, not sure if he has signed to play there for sure or if there is still time for him to decide to stayin in the U.S.
