But why do it now and not if an injury occurs?

Early January is when all contracts become guaranteed. Maybe he's only guaranteed something like 200K or so if h'e waived now?

i think they basically realized landry's improvement was for real and that DA could play some more minutes, therefore it would limit pops' PT, if any, so it was best to let him go instead of wasting the spot and i guess save money by doing that as well? I dont think they have any plans on how to fill that post yet though...

Sounds like a trade may happen.

He'd still be a part of the 15-man roster. The Rockets wouldn't be able to bring in another PG without waiving one of the existing players.

It makes me wonder why they wouldn't just keep Will Conroy. Maybe they were hoping to trade Dorsey or Cook early on, but have found there to be no takers.

I did say fully guaranteed. I thought some contracts had certain date-sensitive stipulations. Is this wrong?

They don't have to cut him at this moment if that's the case. Nobody can predict injuries. Since no trade coming either, I'd like to think some unpleasure things happened behind the scenes.

Conroy wasn't even the best PG they had on the SL roster.

I agree there has to be a trade or a FA signing that the Rockets are interested in, or it makes little sense to cut him this early in the season. His contract doesn't become guaranteed until January, I believe, so there must be other move(s) planned.

I can't see a trade coming. The team is having great chemistry now, and with the low salaries to out players, I can't see how a ONE FOR TWO trade that can bring in an impact player could happen.
