"You mean where they jump backwards, travel, and shoot the 3? Is that the move you're talking about? I guess it's been made legal, I don't know...It's very difficult to guard, and they're great at it that's for sure. Take nothing away from them, it's been developed. It's used and nobody is better at it than they are. It's virtually impossible to guard. But they've perfected it. They've worked at it. They didn't just wake up and all of a sudden be able to do that. They've put in time and effort for sure."

People been doing step backs since the 90s

The only difference is that Harden does it behind the 3 point line.

You can't be serious if you say half these guys don't travel. It's just not called.

You can’t be serious if you say harden travels on most of his step backs.. you must not understand the rules then. Yeah he may travel on some rare occasions. But most or about 90% are legal moves.

Ehh, but technically it's not a travel. There are videos that breakdown the stepback

It’s not a travel by today’s standards, which is what Pop was saying. Extended gather into a step back would have been a clear-cut travel 30 years ago. Popovich is old.

I couldn’t care less about anything Popovich says or believes. He’s a pretty good coach and that is all.

I understand the rules very clear. I didn't say he traveled every time he does a stepback but he does travel on quite a few. The no-called travels over the years has fans spoiled.

Pop's just being funny because did he not bring over the guy who basically made the Euro step (which was also considered traveling at one point) one of the most defining moves in the 21st century which also helped him get all those rings?

Lol .... good old fashion “my guys suck at step back 3s, sooooo I’ll call anyone who can do it a travel”.

Maybe he should’ve said something about Ginobilly’ flagrant flops!!

“Ginobilly worked hard at flopping! He didn’t just wake up one morning and he was a good floppier” ...

He will be saying a different thing if one of his guy is good at it. Coach is always biased, so don’t even ask.

"And while I'm at it, what about these kids and their crossover dribbling? Back in my day, if we could see any part of your palm while dribbling, it was a carry, pal!"

It's not a travel in the modern NBA, but It's definitely a travel from Popovich's time. Back then you couldn't even dribble the ball from the side, the rules have changed a lot over the years.

Exactly, rules have changed a lot over the years. Hardens step back was a travel in Popovich's earliest times, not now.

True. I just don't like he's complaining now. Technically the eurostep is a travel & his own player Ginobli originated it
