There's one very near River Oaks on Shepherd, so it's close and convenient. Sometimes it's a guilty pleasure for me, as I usually eat very healthy.

KFC for the bird, Popeye's for the sides. If they ever figure out how to sell fried crawfish and butterfly shrimp year-round, it's over.
There's no fried chicken at El Pollo Loco Now if you said Bojangles ... cant beat that chicken biscuit and sweet tea.
KFC, cause i always order the 10 piece and tell them to throw one out the window and leave me with 9. They do it for me every time I ask.
Let's see here...over the past 3.5 years... # of times I went to Popeyes: about 25 times I think # of times I went to KFC: zero Popeyes wins. (That said, I've cut back on fried chicken over the past year and a half...eating healthier.)
I prefer the taste of Popeyes, but dont enjoy the service at the location by my house. The last time I was there, I ordered 2 5 strip meals, and a 2 piece all white meat meal. They asked me to pull ahead. 12 minutes in they said my strips were waiting but needed more white meat chicken and wanted to know if breasts were ok, otherwise it would take 7 more minutes. They also delivered 3 incorrect size and flavor drinks. Needless to say i opted for the chicken they had ready. 8 minutes later they walk out with cold strips and sides and the 2 piece was a breast and a thigh... I wrote Popeyes off because of their service in the past, I just recently tried them again because I ate at one near work and it was great.
LOL, I had their roasted chicken last night. It was pretty damn good and always a go to when I don't feel like cooking. I hit up the same Popeyes as Texxx at least once a week, if the one he's talking about is on 11th street in The Heights. I eat pretty healthy, but that location seriously makes the best, juiciest, most fantastic fried chicken and hot biscuits. I cannot stay away from it for long periods of time. Also a wonderful hangover cure. Also, their tea pwns.
No -- I go to the KFC near River Oaks. I almost never go to the Heights unless I'm invited there to discuss marriage with Batman Jones. The only time I eat Popeyes is if I'm at Bush airport and not feeling like eating particularly healthy.
NM- I thought you said Popeyes. You're missing out on 3 great restaurants there. Crisp, Glass Spoon and Liberty Kitchen. I don't mind the 10 minute drive and a hop across I-10 for those places. Also, there is zero chance of me eating Popeyes before flying. The people up front would hate me for it.
