Overweight is defined as a BMI equal to or greater than 25. Obesity is defined as a BMI equal to or greater than 30. Using this body mass index, overweight = fat.
I guess Ron Artest is fat. His BMI is 29.3 (based on 6' 7" 260 as shown in his bio). So is Lebron James.
Well, thats not the purpose of my post. You asked if there is a difference between overweight and fat. I merely suggested that the BMI scale doesnt have a "fat" category. Rather, it has an overweight category and an obese category...thus leading to the conclusion that fat and overweight can be interchangeable. It has nothing to do with what BMI is in the first place. Regarding the BMI scale itself, it works better on average people than on huge, athletic beasts such as Artest, LeBron, Shaq, etc. In Jessica Simpsons case, her BMI would not be misleading.
what'd she say? this is apparently a size 8, this girl looks good to me. those other pictures lead me to believe, jessica simpson is not currently a size 8. this is a size 16. is jessica somewhere in that range?
Again, not the point I was making. The question was raised...are fat and overweight the same thing...my post just shows that, yes, it could very well be the same thing.
Are you sure? Take a close look at her lower torso. Be careful. Nowadays, the chicks have these things called Spanx (or "shapewear") which basically squeezes and forms their fat gut and ass into a curvy shape. They wear that under their clothes, and bingo! Not fat, right?
Yeah I noticed the last post of yours after the fact. In regards to your actual point, I wouldn't say they are the same at all. You can be overweight and not look in the least bit "fat." In fact I never even like to use the term fat because it's so derogatory in the first place. I also would like to see pictures of her in something other than hideous outfit that does nothing for her figure. Has she gained weight? Clearly. But jeez, I'm sure she looks much sexier in an outfit that's a little more slimming.
I'm still hoping Dadakota takes bobrek's challenge and asks Mamakoda whether Jessica is fat. Will the reaction be: a) what's Dada doing checking out the 20 somethings on the internet? b) is Dada implying I'm fat? c) Dada should get off HIS fat ass and get a job .
Really now, cool & ironic. & money probably wasnt a big thing cuz obviously she brings home the bacon
We can get caught up in the minutiae of BMI (whose accuracy can be comprised by muscle mass) or sizes (whose measurement they represent has changed over the years, and even varies per manufacturer), or we can just use our eyes. Fat, thick, overweight, chunky, whatever you want to call it, she is certainly not within the range of her ideal weights. I imagine that her stomach fat would be a little more pronounced too if she didn't have the belt (and likely a midsection girdle) squeezing everything in.
