Well, I hate to break it to you, but the average woman in America IS FAT. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average size of the American woman today is 163 pounds and 5' 3.8" (source). Calculate the BMI for a woman of that size, and her BMI comes out to 27.9, which is in the "overweight" zone for BMI - pushing obese (which is 30 or more) Note: As you can see from the NHCS site, those stats are from 1999 - 2002. Do you think American women, on average, have gotten thinner or fatter over the past 7 years?
I studied abroad in France this past summer and I often think about how few fat girls I saw there. I literally see more fat girls in a single day here than I did in an entire summer over there. (And just for the record, this didn't just apply to girls, but to people in general. The fat guys I saw over there were few and far between too).
Okay, you got me on that. Yikes!!!... I stand by what I said...she is not FAT, just overweight. She seems to be one of those women that don't carry extra weight as well as other women can. Usually short women don't carry weight that well. I definitely can see that in her face and arms. Recently Eva Longoria had to gain weight for her role in Desperate Housewives and you could tell in her face. It's just how well they can carry weight. I still don't think Simpson is fat. Maybe 10-20 lbs then I'll reconsider. I agree with you. I went to Italy back in 2003. I HARDLY saw any fat women there. HARDLY! I guess it's something Americans are eating, huh? I guess we're one of the fattest countries in the world.
You don't even have to go far, just go north of the border to Canada and it's the same way. A lot of skinny women up there. Most of it is lifestyle. Here in America, we sit down and drive places, while in other places people walk. It's not abnormal to walk miles a day.
Romo: I love everything about you Jessica, inside and out... Jessica: Alright, wait now... So you said you leave me for ME? Whats on the INSIDE, right hon? Romo: Yes, babe. I... Jessica: And we're engaged & set on our marriage date? Cuz we can still - Romo: Of COURSE we are, silly! Jessica: Aaaaaah! -> *Bacon double cheeseburger order* "I'm SET, yes. If Brit can do this and still have a career..."
Really to me its not the weight so much, she just looks different. Like the weight knocked some youth off her body or she took some Greg Oden potion. If she's preg, whatever. But she's mid to late 20's somehow looking like Jillian Barberie's OLDER sister. Jessica/Jillian PS - still NOTHING I'd pass up
I completely disagree with you about Jessica Simpson, I think she looks horrible. But great call on Mena Suvari. I had no idea what she was working with!
So by your definition, you have to be obese to be called "fat"? I think another 20 lbs on Simpson very well could push her over a BMI of 30.
What is the difference between being "Fat" and being "Overweight"... What is making you "overweight" isn't that.....uh.....FAT? DD
This pretty much sums it up. Throw in the lack of self discipline also. It bothers me when I hear those ads that say, "Lose weight AND eat anything you what if you try [our product]. Also, its sociably ok to be overweight. Although Simpson is not overly fat, there is no middle ground with weight. The older you get, that faster it comes on and the harder it comes off. Im thin and i always hear the older fat guys say, "when I was your age, I used to be as thin as you". Even though I am thin and I eat whatever i want, I regulate bad food if I start eating too much of it.
