I spoke with my cousin from Boston yesterday. Her and her family are die-hard card-carrying members of the Red Sox nation.

She told me that she has no doubt that the Sox will take two straight from the A's at Fenway...only to lose game 5 in Oakland.

Man, what a game tonight! Sox got a huge break on that obstruction call, but they *should* have won Game 1.

    Anyway, LMAO on this:

BOSTON -- Embattled Red Sox reliever Byung-Hyun Kim made an obscene gesture toward Boston fans after he was booed during pre-game introductions at Fenway Park.

Kim failed to hold a lead in the ninth inning of Game 1 of Boston's Division Series against Oakland, and the Red Sox lost to Oakland in extra innings, and fans jeered as the closer was introduced before Saturday night's playoff game against Oakland.

Kim initially tipped his cap when his name was announced, according to a pool reporter who was permitted to view videotape of the introductions before Game 3. But the fans began booing, and Kim lifted his right hand and put up his middle finger.

The Boston Red Sox management did not immediately offer a reaction to Kim's gesture.

Kim has intermittently held the job of Red Sox closer -- many relievers have held that job, in fact -- and at one point earlier this year, Kim complained about the negative air around the team.

Boston obtained Kim from Arizona for infielder Shea Hillenbrand on May 29. In 44 relief appearances and five starts with the Red Sox this season, Kim was 8-5 with a 3.18 ERA and 16 saves in 19 chances.

Kim gave up game-tying homers for Arizona in Games 4 and 5 of the 2001 World Series at Yankee Stadium.

Goes to show you that Boston fans are some of the toughest to please, but hey the guy can't pitch in the clutch, what does he expect the fans to do?

DAMN!!!!!! that was a royal screwing from the umps. so a guy going back to third gets awarded home. but the guy rounding third and run into gets nothing. makes perfect sense. how do you even live with yourself and you're that ump accepting all that money from the bo sox? i don't even think macha got himself ejected. that would've been pretty damn hard for me to not do.

and **** kim. that dude had a sorry ass WHIP for my fantasy team 2 last year after i traded for him and got almost no saves. and then i picked him up this year off waivers and luckily traded him before anything bad happened. and he helped the yankees nearly win a world series. but flippin' the bird to the fans? now that's quality. hey, if they wanna boo, he should get to respond.

Everything I've read and heard concerning this call indicates the ump made the right play. The player was stupid to stop running and not keep hoofing it for homeplate.
