No it really doesn't. The criticism Lin gets does not even compare to some of the stuff said about Harden. In fact, I cannot imagine the outcry that would result if we applied some of the stuff said about Harden to Lin.
Lin is a good starter this second half of the season, after he's knees have fully recovered. The way I see it, being a good starter is already an accomplishment in the NBA, when there are abundant quality PGs. Although He definitely has a lot of improvement to work on, and any logical person can see that, whether he'll be an all-Star PG in the future is debatable, what matters more is him contributing to the team success while having a good NBA career. His underdog story itself is already can accomplishment and open the eyes of recruiter.
wouldnt lins TO's decreasing have more to do with him going from the #1 option in NY for that time period to a role player on the rockets.. he may get more possessions here but he isnt trying to break down defenders and create for the offense here.. hes getting the ball and running. not sure if that is progress or just benefiting from playing in a different system. its like a qb in a pass happy offense is going to throw more picks than a qb in a run friendly offense.. you cant say the guy that throws less picks is better than the guy who throws a ton. different offenses..
If you dive more into the advanced stats, you'll see that JLin has made improvement on his turnovers, even adjusted for the fewer possessions he gets in this offense (Hollinger TO%: 2012 = 15.6 , 2013 = 13.5). Also, Lin has always been a pretty decent ballhandler, despite what people may think, his hands rating has been around 24 for the past 2 years (http://www.82games.com/1213/12HOU4.HTM). Compare this to Harden who's hands rating has been between 14 and 17, which is pretty poor. http://www.82games.com/1213/12HOU7.HTM http://www.82games.com/1112/11OKC7.HTM A lot of Lin's TOs are from high risk-high reward passes, and many of them are "dead ball" TOs, which don't allow the defense to get out in transition.
Always great to throw in stats to level people out. I definitely get frustrated at times but like you said everything at this point has exceeded expectations. Go Rockets!
Hopefully he'll reduce the tendency of picking up his dribble in the paint in this series. It always drives me nuts seeing how he traps himself that way. Needs to make good decision and execute faster. For good measure, please put the arm sleeve back on.
That just comes with experience. He won't be doing stuff like that down the road, I'm sure. Really...a lot of the mistakes this team makes will be improved through added experience.
Ridiculous post. No one is expecting Lin to play 48 mins. No one expects him to score 27 pts or otherwise be considered to have had a bad game. On the other hand it's LOHs who think Lin has a bad game without his scoring 20+ pts or 10 assists even though he gets benched for quarters at a time and is not the primary ballhandler. They ask why he doesn't avg 10-12 assists a game like CP3 or Rondo while parked in the baseline corner. Yes, people need to adjust their expectations.
I agree with everything in your post. Any reasonable person would be happy with Lin and his progress so far. I think the man has a chance to be one hell of a good point guard. I have enjoyed the Lin / Harden back court and I hope everyone is excited to watch them grow into the most dominating back court in the NBA in the coming years.
You know when "LOFs" will shut the **** up? When Kevin McDumbAss treats him like a real starting PG ( not totally randomly yank him out after great quarters like in the suns and the Lakers game, especially lakers game was pathetic sitting him out for 12 minutes game timelol after a real good quarter on the most important game of the season), lets him handle the ball on a fair amount because hes twice as good at this than harden and parsons and actually treats him like the 2nd most talented player on the team. i assure u LOFs would be as happy and as supportive as it gets if those things ever happened. doubt though that McBrainfart will let it happen. So you have to live with the rants as long as your so apreciated CotY candidate still runs the show. or at least as long as he keeps being r****ded and switch back to ISO Hero ball when its totally clear and proven by statistics that this team is at its best when Lin handles the ball. So in a way LOFs do love the Rockets even more than most vets, as they want the team to whin, not dickride a stubborn, bad coach because he brought that totally new and untalented team( sarcasm) to the playoffs.
So you are the guy that thinks Lin is a superhuman and should play all 48 minutes. Thanks for revealing yourself. In fairness it looks like your just out trolling. Maybe the LOFs are right, it's just a bunch of trolls trying to stir **** up.
"Unfortunately the LOF’s do not see this version of Jeremy Lin. They see Jeremy Lin as a finished product" Whoa there, mother lover. His detractors do this just as much. It's his first season as a starter, nothing great and nothing horrible with lots of pontential for growth. I really don't look at points because that is a non issue when you only take 11 attempts. What I look at is how well the team runs under his leadership. Like opposing coaches & our halftime analysts have all said, when lin is on point..we're hard to beat.
no actually i said he should be treated like an apreciated Starting PG not like a whipping boy who gets benched for real long stretches even after playing good. this happened multiple times this season. the lakers and suns games are perfect examples for this. then he gets thrown back in when all the momentum is gone or the game is over. i would be real happy with 36 minutes ( in the playoffs, regular season 32-36),consistent coaching and no underserved benchigs as that hurts every players confidence.Finishing 4th quarters would be real nice, too. Only bench him when he really fails even though Harden and even Parsons are allowed to play through every **** stretch they have... But thanks for the hate!
This is just not true. No one has ever demanded that Harden be traded or that Anderson should start in place of Harden. Not to say Lin is above criticism, but I've just had it with people who feel like they have the moral obligation to go around and argue with every single post by Lin fans. If it wasn't clear, you're one of those guys. Just let it rest and share more positive energy.
