It's pretty simple. At the end of the day, Tmac, Yao, and the rest of our guys are genuinely good people that make you feel welcome. There's never any need to emphasize who falls where in the hierarchy (like Shaq and Kobe). Then, because Tmac and Yao are easygoing, we have guys like Deke wanting to stick around, and rookies who don't feel out of place and don't have to do any unecessary ass-kissing. No wonder everyone wants to play for the drama-free Rockets. Even Bonzi, with his history of drama and locker-room antics toned down his act and really tried to start fresh in Houston.
A man who basketball prowess was nothing short of an athletic manifestation of the will of god. A man whose mere presence could heal a sick child. A man whose impact on the city of Houston will rank with Sam Houston himself. I give you. Bonzi Wells.
I would have rather traded Luther head and then gone for Barry. Bonzi is too much of an x-factor to have let go. The man could win a few playoff games single-handidly. It was a mistake to trade him
Either Shane, Tracy, or any one of our 3 PFs can take care of Bonzi. As long as they don't stick Luther or one of the other midgets on him, they are fine. Bonzi specializes in punishing midgets. Guys 6'5'' and above, not so much.
I think he is still looking to get paid. Never really got over the sting of turning down that large contract offer from Sacto. If the market really isnt there for him, I could see him entertaining the offer to come back. But from what Ive heard from Feigen and Fran and Sports Radio, The team wasnt really planning on making him an offer after the season was over. I think someone will make him a decent offer and he will accept it.
Bonzi was a mistake to let go, I mean we have Luther and Steve Francis that we could have traded. Why Bonzi? Luther is almost worthless, and Steve is like last year's Bonzi. Why give up Bonzi when we had so many other options to go? Wait, why go for the trade at all? Bobby Jackson is a waste of our time.
A band I play with regularly makes visits to the Ronald McDonald House to perform for the kids and their parents. At the annual Christmas bash, Yao, Deke, Bonzi, Scola, and Landry were there handing out presents. I was very impressed with the time that Bonzi and Scola spent with the kids and I have to admit to having had some second thoughts about where Bonzi was now. I think he had it together for the first time in a while and I hated to see him go. But, hell, it's business bottom line.
the rockets will regret trading bonzi......he's a potential matchup nightmare for teams in a 7 game series...........there's a good chance the rockets might be playing a team like the hornets in the 1st round, and now they have given them some depth....
Bonzi who?!? He quit on us last year, we traded him this year. Seems like a fair deal. I hope we play the Hornets. Thats the team I feel we have the best chances of beating among the top teams.
the guy who will help the hornets out...some of you will regret taking the man lightly if we have to matchup with N.O. in the first round .........and for the record he and JVG didn't get along last year, that's why he was dropped from the roster before the post season.............the rockets just made a division opponent and potential 1st round matchup team better with this trade............
The trade was good mainly from a financial perspective. NO's bench sucked and Bonzi is going to help that. I would have been a lot happier if he'd been traded East.
Ya know, why do you have to trade a Bonzi to a in-conference rival? That's plain stupid. Almost as stupid as the Spurs trading us Scola for nothing. We basically traded Bonzi for nothing too. An aging Jackson and scrubs. You'd think management would be a bit smarter than that.
i think management did make a smart move...we didnt want aaron to be backup going into playoffs he just doesnt have the experience to handle it yetm so bjax is perfect since he knows the system already..and landry scola will both take over any minutes or any contributions bonzi could have contributed...this is a great move and i believe it sets the rockets up for now ad the future...esp if we get brent berry out of this too
My thoughts exactly!!!... If only the board had more posters like you Deckard... We as fans get so emotionally attached that we forget this is a business at the end of the day. GM DM, who I have alot of faith in, saw this a big chance to make us better and he went in for the swoop. I personally do feel Aaron was up to the task come playoff time regardless of his hitting the wall as of late... But I welcomed the move. As for Bonzi, thanks. You had your moments. Who could forget the picture with the two horses or the "Official" Bonzi off-season thread...Sorry it didn't work out.
How would his new coach and teammates take his opinion of the Rox having a better opportunity to win it all tan them? Well hopefully they understand he was only telling the truth.
