If it were Jalen and Alpy for Donky, I'd do it immediately!! Amen, Tari and Jabari are the guys you want next to him to cover his weaknesses.

But yes, sure, I'd trade Amen and Alpy. There is enough defensive chops with the remaining guys. Then trade 2 firsts for Turner and it's still a strong defensive team, but with an all-world facilitator.

Crack out the beers for the fat alcoholic after every game??

Doncic is who you want our young guys to become, a top 5 player in the NBA. I love Amen and Sengun but its a no brainer. I'm honestly shocked at the poll results after all the complaining you dont want the guy who brought his team to the Finals?

    Ok lol.

Luka was playing injured I'd hope Kyrie had better stats being the healthy dude. And in the Finals despite being injured Luka still the one who showed up.

Check Luka's injured stats vs Kyrie's playing injured stats on the Nets breh.

Unless you are saying Amen has a 0% chance of learning how to shoot, then his upside can surpass Luka. There are two sides to basketball.

    I love Amen and Sengun.

But keeping them and praying they get to even 80% of the level Luka, Jokic, LeBron, etc. is at now is ridiculous. Especially considering Luka is 25.

If you think Luka showed up in the Finals then you must have ignored how and why Boston won the Finals, and who they schemed to take advantage of defensively. Luka was exposed in the Finals.

The problem with the premise is that it shouldn’t have taken Sengun and Amen to beat their deal. Sengun and Phoenix picks or Amen+Brooks+PHX picks should have been more desirable.

Unfortunately, Sengun’s extension makes any of these proposed deals very hard to pull off.

I would trade both but no picks. Maybe just a single one. I think Luka is that good and Mavs are gonna keep getting clowned over the years for that joke of a trade.

It’s not 0 since nothing ever is but it’s certainly less than say 2%. Amen would have to reach his absolute 100th percentile outcome and become an elite shooter.

I believe that players who have opened their eyes under this club, who grew up here, developed here, were trained here, and reached star level here, reflect the basketball we play with emotions better.

For the fans, for the club, for the player themselves, this "story" should create an ecosystem where each concept becomes symbolized with its own signature, differentiates from others, and a culture is formed.

Yes, professionalism, money, fame, and other similar concepts play a key role in our modern world, but...

We must not forget the scent that comes from the streets.

Amen and Şengün are part of Houston.

Celtics have a lot more talent and depth than the Mavs. Luka and Irving beat several 50 win teams to get to the Finals. Even if Luka "got exposed" its up to the rest of the team to make up for that. Celtics didnt exactly rely on one guy either Derrick White for example outplayed Tatum pretty much the entire playoffs.

So you admit Kyrie had better stats but you still attempt the goalpost move. Unfortunately what you actually said was....

You said Injured Luka dragged them TO the finals. The trouble is, you can't pivot to what happened IN the finals when you claimed TO the finals. Arguably, Irving dragged them TO the finals. But he didn't. It was a great team effort led by 2 superstars. No need to try to make it seem like he Doncic put the Bad News Bears on his back.

Btw, I think I'd do this deal for Amen and Alpi - or I'd at least think long about it. I disagree that anyone "smart" would instantly do this deal. Last year, yes. But this year we have new information including Alpi's defensive leap, Amen's overall leap, and Doncic pleagued by injuries.

[CBS] Five teams that could have made better offers than Lakers if Mavs had shopped superstar

    2. Houston Rockets

Mavericks receive: Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith, Fred VanVleet, Cam Whitmore, five first-round picks (the two most favorable of of their own, Dallas' and Phoenix's in 2029, Phoenix's in 2027, Houston's own in 2027 and 2031)

Rockets receive: Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, Naji Marshall, Dwight Powell

Houston has been adamant that it plans to play out the season with its current roster before considering major moves. Doncic would have challenged that stance if the Rockets had known he was available. He's exactly the sort of shot-creator they're lacking, and for all they're giving up here, they'd have quite a bit left in the cupboard.

Doncic, Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green is a stellar offensive core. Dillon Brooks and Tari Eason are around to maintain the defensive culture Ime Udoka has developed over the past few seasons, and Marshall would add to it. This would obviously be an enormously talented roster, but it would be a young and balanced one as well. There's plenty of upside to a team like this.

The tricky part about building a deal like this is that VanVleet earns just as much as Doncic does, and most of Houston's young players are relatively expensive as high draft picks. That means Dallas has to include extra salary to make this work, which is why Marshall is in the deal in the first place. The Mavericks would prefer to keep him. Smith is a better long-term replacement. If they'd prefer No. 3 overall pick Reed Sheppard, that works for Houston as well. There are also potential constructions in which Houston sends Jalen Green to Dallas instead of VanVleet, but that would affect the draft compensation Dallas would have received. The Rockets have so much firepower from a trade perspective that there's plenty of room to tinker with the exact return.

The basic premise, though, is that Amen Thompson and a mountain of valuable draft picks would be coming their way. Thompson, like Williams, projects as a long-term star that emphasizes defense without the age-related drawbacks Davis carries. Dallas could slide him into their lineup at power forward alongside a starting perimeter trio of VanVleet, Irving and Thompson that has more than enough shooting to support him. The Mavericks would need to eventually find a perimeter star to replace Irving, but one of the benefits of this trade for Dallas is that it would give them control of multiple Phoenix picks. The Rockets are waiting to use those picks to extract Devin Booker when things go south for the Suns. In this scenario, Dallas would occupy a similar lane. Getting Cam Whitmore would just be a bonus.

    1. Oklahoma City Thunder

Mavericks receive: Jalen Williams, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Hartenstein, Nikola Topic, four first-round picks (two most favorable of their own, Houston's and the Clippers' in 2026, and Denver's in 2027 and 2029)

Thunder receive: Luka Doncic, Daniel Gafford, Dante Exum

    3. San Antonio Spurs

Mavericks receive: Devin Vassell, Stephon Castle, Jeremy Sochan, five first-round picks (Atlanta's in 2025 and 2027, San Antonio's in 2025 and 2029, Minnesota's in 2031), two first-round swaps (Dallas in 2030, Boston in 2028)

    Spurs receive: Luka Doncic

    4. Philadelphia 76ers

Mavericks receive: Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, Eric Gordon, three first-round picks (Clippers' in 2028, Philadelphia's in 2031, least favorable of Philadelphia's, Houston's or Oklahoma City's in 2026), one first-round swap (from Philadelphia in 2026).

    76ers receive: Luka Doncic

    5. Brooklyn Nets

    Mavericks receive: Ben Simmons, Cam Thomas, seven first-round picks (Brooklyn's in 2025, Milwaukee's in 2025, Philadelphia's in 2027, New York's in 2025, 2027, 2029 and 2031

    Nets receive: Luka Doncic
