Poll: Will Rae Carruth be found guilty or not-guilty?

    Apparently, the jurors felt the prosecution proved that Carruth engaged in a conspiracy to commit murder (the asking or hiring someone to kill his girlfriend), but didn't feel that the prosecutors proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the murder was a result of that conspiracy.

    It seems like a stretch, but it's technically possible.

    For example, I could attempt to hire someone to kill you. I could conceivably change my mind about going through with that murder for hire, but I'd still be guilty of conspiracy to commit murder. At a later point, the person I hired could actually kill you for a reason unrelated to my hiring him to kill you. So, I would be guilty of conspiracy, but not guilty of murder.

    I'm just guessing that's what the jury was thinking, though.
