We lost because, well, we were supposed to. T-mac had a bad shooting night, Yao and JVG didnt make the best decisions tonight. Phoenix is a hard team to defend, I'm proud of our Rockets for not being blown out by 30. They are the best team in the league now and look to be one of the best teams we've seen in a while. We had a chance to keep it close but lost it. I feel we can beat them in a playoff series, we kept it close even when things weren't going our way. I'd rather have T-mac shooting than anyone else other than Yao, and JVG didn't really help Yao get his time in. Overall I thought it was a good game, if we played them in 2 days I bet we would win.

when you LET your opponent shoot 44% from the arc, you're screwed.

Could TMac have shot better or taken more to the hole? Yes. Could they have played better defense? Absolutely. Did JVG make a few bad moves on his part? Sure.

But, I think we played allright overall. The Suns just couldn't stop hitting those crazy a** shots.

I don't know if I agree here. I saw a good amount of poor shot selections.

And a lot of Tracy's shot may look good but most of the time we have better shots available.

I agree completely. I can't really remember Tmac taking any forced shots with hands in his face. Also, when Yao was ineffective and out of the game, Tmac has to shoot more. I get so tired of when someone says, "Hey, player X is obviously cold, he should quit shooting." That's just not the way basketball works. What is Tmac supposed to do? Just dump into Deke and Mo Taylor? To win against good teams, your best players have to play well, and you have to give them the chance to do that by letting them take their shots.

From the game I saw, I'd say about half of his shots were acceptable.

In any case, even the best of players get cold. The great ones find ways of making their team better without having to score.

No, T-Mac wasn't taking that many forced shots. But he was taking many quick jumpers with a hand in his face. I wouldn't necessarily call that good shot selection.

And by the way, I completely disagree with your comment about how basketball works.

Dumping it into Deke wouldn't have been a bad idea tonight. The guy was playing like an all-star. These are the types of things that great players realize. Basketball is still a team game. We're not the freaking Lakers.

I contribute the loss to all the 3 pointers the Suns shot and made. That was just crazy. Other than that I think the Rockets played very well...McGrady and Yao didnt have great games but the team played good.

    Are we talking T-Mac?

When he scores 40 you could say the same thing. They only 'bad' shots I sense from him are when he's facing the basket, doesn't see a good pass, then takes a rushed shot before the defense comes.

That happens about once every 2 or 3 games.

As for the rest of his shots, they all have a pretty decent chance of dropping.

    Agreed.

And even w/ Yao and McGrady off a little and the Suns crazy shooting, we still had a shot at it. Must have done something right ... but let's not focus on the positive. Much more fun to find 'blame'.

    Cohen,

For some reason, I never felt we were actually in the game.

I just felt like the Suns could turn it on against us and it would be over.

I think they play a beautiful brand of basketball, and I think the Rockets are getting there.

However, I still feel we are not strong enough on the inside, nor the outside to compete with the elite teams.

Getting there, but not there yet, in fact, I think we will struggle to make the playoffs, and would bet against it.

Is that all, DaDakota? Keep defense out at the arc, while pushing Amare all the way out there, and borrow Parker from the Spurs .... easy 'nuf.

    ;)

You're saying he takes only one bad shot every 2 or 3 games?

I honestly didn't see many bad shots by t-mac tonight. He had the look they just didn't drop. I'd rather T-mac take them than anyone else. It was just a bad shooting night. A win over the lakers will cure all of this.

    Heheh,

I think our guys can defend fine, but we kept double teaming Nash (Bad idea) and switching on the picks (bad idea).

The Spurs put out the blue print, and we ignored it.

Clearly though, we are still a work in progress, the Suns are just a better team, with 3 new starters on offense...ehem.

You mean ... you thought the Suns could turn it on and start hitting their 3s? ;)

I was very impressed with the hustle tonight. Too bad we couldn't hit more shots.

I didn't expect us to beat them ... yet ... but I was impressed with how quickly our 'new' team is coming together.

I was also impressed with the hustle, but a little dissappointed that we were the team that was fading at the end and they played last night in Minnesota.

However, still time and the season looks a heck of a lot more promising then it did even 2 weeks ago.

Pardon, the only bad shot that I tend to see him repeating is the one I described, and he doesn't do it often. As for his other intermittent bad ones, I think they're few a far between.

But I'm flexible ... what shots does he take that you think he shouldn't be? I've been quite shocked at how good his shot selection is. Half of that equation, of course, is that he seems to be able to make just about anything he puts up.

    Agreed.

And fun to watch. I was esp happy to see our fans on their feet. I think it's about the first time this team has been treated to roudy fan support.
