    Of course great.

He didn't have T-Mac for month, he didn't have Yao for the 2nd half of the season and playoffs and he kept them together despite injuries. He is known as an offensive coach but he showed his team can be on of the best defensive ball clubs in the lauge.

You can't blame anybody (not Adelman) for not advancing to the 2nd round.

I belive that if we stay healthly we will have huge next season.

I was against the Adelman hire. I didn't dislike him, but I didn't think he was an improvement over JVG.

    I was wrong.

He did a great job and no way we win the number of games we did without Yao with the JVG offense.

Kudos, Rick. I am glad I was mistaken

Too bad our offense isnt much if any better under Adelman. I have warmed up to Adelman, but I hope people will start to recognize that it wasn't JVG's style but rather that we do not have the players to score.

When people were calling for his head when we were 15-17, I said, "let's wait till March and April before we judge him." Sure enough, he got the team going midway through the season.

Now I'd say next year is the true test for his coaching. He will have had a full year to implement his system. He will have had a stable rotation already coming into the pre-season. If both Yao and TMac are healthy, he'd better take the team deep into the playoffs.

His rotation strategy confused me at times, and he overused Yao a bit. Generally speaking it's an OK job.

I am looking forward to the next season when we have a healthy lineup. GO ROCKETS!

Well JVG had years to get players who could score.

Its comments like these that really gets under my skin, especially for anyone who has followed the Rockets throughout the years.

When JVG arrived, the Rocket's roster was a complete mess. He had NO tradable assets or cap room to make any significant moves. He cleared A LOT of our trash (Noochie and Mo Taylor), and put us in the situation we are in now. Go look at draft history and free agent signing in the past decade and you will realize what I mean.

I think he did a good job, it was a balanced (offense and defense) team, he had to deal with key injuries all year (tmac, yao, alston) and rookies to learn the style of play of the nba, and a new system to the last year players, so next year would be better I think.

For all the hype of being an offensive coach, the offense really didn't look smooth until the streak. After the streak, it got bad again. I'm surprised that the defense was still excellent, but I think that has more to do with the fact that we have several defensive-minded players.

he did a good job, I was expecting him to get us out of the 1st round slump even though we didn't have Yao. Hopefully he can be our coach for years to come and bring Houston Rockets another Championship.

Exceeded expectations, because of the defense. Mike D'Antoni or Don Nelson would have NEVER kept the defensive integrity of the team intact.

There's a little difference in not learning the offense and not "running" the offense. Early on they plain didnt run it. Later they didnt "run it effectively. Players probably learned all what was given to them, but their own tendencies to be unoffensive (like Battier camping at the 3 instead of moving) made them deviate from the offense a bit.

22 straight wins half without Yao is a remarkable achievement. The playoff losses and player flaws still get a lot of attention but we'll look back on this years later and see how truly special it was.

Maybe someone mentioned this already but for me the poll option don't make sense. Adelman exceeded my expectations (which would mean I have to vote 'great') but I don't know if getting him was the right move (which would mean that I grade him below 'good').

I voted 'good' just based on our record but now that I think about it, he can make major improvements. For one, I hated the fact that Yao was playing the most minutes on the team. If he didn't trust Deke (which he wrongly did, Deke could have easily played 15 min/game), he could have asked Morey to get a center, not overplay Yao. And I'm still waiting for Adelman's offense - except for a few games here and there and few plays every game, it's still Gundy style pick and roll McGrady to death. If he has any success in making us more offensively proficient, he will have proven to be better than JVG.

The Rockets became a better team under Rudy with Yao.

JVG's team made the playoffs but Rudy got sick and had only two less regular season wins.

JVG's defense is overrated too. In Yao's rookie season the Rockets were the 5th best defensive team in the league. In the previous year they had the second worst defensive FG% in the league.

If Yao and SF3's injury is avoided, if Head can be an eligible backup for T-Mac, If an eligible big man is there, he is great.

I still wonder if Yao was overused and made him injured.

If Yao can't play the minutes he is not a franchise player.
