I would guess most people in this country just don't care about politics. Didn't 5% of houston vote for a mayor. Only 64% showed for the last election.

insulting people over the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win ur still a r****d.
vote outside the realm of democratic/republican or don't vote. You'll never get what you want doing the same tired activities over and over. You are not children, figure it out already.
Man alive dude, these people get paid extremely well to infiltrate these movements and lie to you. Have you never been lied to before? The only people who want to hurt and scare you belong to the government and media, follow the friggin' money trail. No one makes any money off of peace and tranquility. I try to remain calm reading this board but the level of naivety is just too much to handle.
So the government now runs the financial sector? Really? The government runs the auto industry? The government runs health care in this country really? Please show me what part of any program puts the government in charge of these industries? Just show me the language in the bills that does that.
I don't like what congress "allowed" leading up to Iraq but they were in a particularly ugly position where the data was not always shared with them, the populace was being mislead, and extremely nasty use of "patriotism" was utilized to besmirch any who questioned... I'm confused. This is called representative democracy, and it has worked as intended. As for Bush's election - the issue was with the supreme court's interference and a plethora of shady activity in the vote counts.
I feel quite sure Obama helped his chances in 2012 by passing a health care bill in which almost every part of it was exactly what the people wanted. Obama followed the will of the people and got the health care deal done.
I know I'm not the first to mention this (not even the first in this thread), but where was this anger when the Patriot Act was passed by a Republican Congress and signed by a Republican President?
Wait. So you admit the complaints are based on misconceptions and irrational fear, but yet I'm still supposed to respect these positions? That doesn't make sense. Certainly, being an ass about it may not be conducive (although I often feel it therepeutic, and necessary *sigh*) to discussion, but pretending that wild predictions of socialism are respectable would be counterintuitive to rational debate. Sometimes people are just wrong.
Ralph Nader or some other third party wouldn't come close to delivering on health care reform. Democrats did. If you knew your history, you'd know parties can and do change and since we're institutionally set up for a two party system, it's incumbent upon Americans who give a damn to make those changes happen. Unfortunately, parties can also change for the worse... see the Democrats of the 1970's or today's Republicans... that makes it even more necessary for Americans who give a damn to get involved and steer things towards the best interest of the country instead of the party elite.
You quit your job a month ago because you knew this thread was coming? Dude, you should really put your psychic ability to better use. What a waste.
Does ousting Bush via impeachment count? It's not an election, but it has nothing to do with a revolution.
Sweet, basso has his anecdotal get out of jail free card. All arguments henceforth are completely pwn3d.
No, I love it when the SCOTUS makes "once in a lifetime" decisions while explicitly saying the ruling shouldn't be used as precedent. It makes me believe in the process....
and it's too bad when state supremes explicity ignore state law and get slapped down by the SCOTUS by a 7-2 vote. people forget that the 5-4 vote had only to do with the remedy, not the underlying constitutional question.
Yup - if anybody ever does anything bad, an anectdote that somebody else has done something that can be couched as remotely similar, at some point, somewhere in the world, regardless of any and all distinguishing factors, AUTOMATICALLY ANNULS THE FIRST ACTION I imagine this universe sort of being like GTA IV - you can run around raping and pillaging and murdering and smashing cars and whatever, but as long as somebody who can be remotely connected to the person whose car you are about to break into has outstanding parking tickets - you may then use that car to run down a policeman and murder a hooker in and be completely justified.
