I wholeheartedly agree with you max, I was using this as one example where the hard-core conservatives on this board will use only the numbers that are favorable. Yes, Bush numbers look good and they are "nana-nana-boo-booing" those who didn't vote for him. When jobs were down, you head conservatives praising Bush for a Jobless recovery but when they go up, who gets the credit?? In their spin-machine, W for his foresight and tax breaks.
then tell us why Bush told us that his tax-cuts would create jobs (which they didn't at anywhere near the level he said they would)
Well this thread is really unfolding nicely but it could use more taunting, please! We haven't heard from IROC it or Faos yet.
What a meaningless statement. He also had far more people vote against him than any President in history. (bears restatement, rudager, since some seem to ignore this) And he still holds the distinction from the previous election of being the first President since 1888 to lose the popular vote.
He does have some impact though. His budget directly affects the deficit and the debt. His tax cuts also affect the deficit and the debt. A huge debt can mean a weaker dollar on the global market, etc. The larger debt also affects future budgets, because of interest we pay, and how much service we see in return for the tax dollars we do pay. I think is the where the President has the largest impact on the economy, and where this President has failed.
I never said he had no impact at all. It's just marginal. Remember, he alone doesn't pass a budget. He can't increase/decrease taxes without Congress following suit. And the impacts you're talking about aren't seen immediately. We see effects of policy taking a lag time before they're actually felt in the economy...and jobs is further down the scale of where these things show up; where they impact.
...yet he was the first since his father to win a majority of the popular vote. He is indeed America's choice. by the way - let me know how you "vote against" somebody in an election. I don't recall seeing that on the ballot.
I agree. I think this has been one of the worst congresses we've had. They've been sorely lacking in their performance, and have at times abdicated their duty(IMO). I also agree that some of the effects aren't seen immediately. But we already seeing a growing debt, interest, and weakening U.S. dollar on the foreign market. The dollar hit its all-time low vs. the Euro earlier this weak.
51% of America anyway. What a mandate. I guess what I'm trying to say about his approval rating is who f*cking cares?! Your guy won! Congratulations! You have nothing else to prove by quoting polls. We can't get rid of him even if his approval rating was 0.1%.
You honestly have never heard people say that both candidates suck, but they dislike one more than the other so they vote against him? It's really a simple concept.
