Michele Bachmann? Who is that? I heard of Coulter but never see her on TV. She has a chapter in an Al Franken book.
Coulter has been around a long while. Some of the stuff that's come out of her mouth over the years is just incredible. I think even you would agree. Her schtick is being the thin blond with long hair, nice legs who gets an audience on radio & TV shows because of her eruptions about "how the left...blah blah blah". Some really over-the-top kooky nonsense. Bachmann is the latest right-wing sensation. She's a congresswoman from Minn. and made a lot of regrettable statements last year and barely got re-elected. She finds a leftist conspiracy in everything. More recently she's the hottest ticket in the country for tea partiers. There's a lot more to say about her but I'll keep it short.
I don't dispute Coulter's intelligence: she was a pro-bono consultant to Paula Jones legal team, got them to grill Clinton about Lewinsky even after Jones' old lawyers advised her to settle; I think she's even admitted to gunning for an impeachment well before any story actually broke. But even though she admits to being a polemicist, I think she believes everything she says about religions and other cultures. I actually think a large portion of sufficiently isolated and uninformed people on both sides of the aisle believe it, Coulter's just one of the few people willing or incentivized to say it.
In the past, there have been a couple of times where she's been interviewed and hinted she doesn't believe her own stuff. There was one in particular where she almost seemed to openly admit it. Sometime in the distant future, I expect Coulter to "come out of the closet" (figuratively) and fess up how she grabbed lunatic-fringe ideas and gave them voice to gain publicity and money. Regarding other religions and cultures, perhaps Coulter believes what she says. But there is no way she believes all her statements and writings. NO WAY.
Most of the conservatives on TV don't give a crap about gun rights. Since I do, I can tell instantly. She said two sentences and I could tell she was full of crap and just read some information and spewed it out. The worst is Hannity though. I was watching a vid where a guy was on there with some training dummy guns and all Hannity did forever was scream "Oh this is a glock, I have a glock" then repeated it. The bad part was he was not so sure for the first 3-4 times until the guy assured him he was right to shut him up. The dude who actually knew his stuff and was awesome? Larry Craig.
