If I were on a criminal case jury, I would not vote to convict Kavanaugh. If I had to choose which I believe more based only on the minimal amount of information out there and the testimony today, I believe Ford more. Kavanaugh acted like he was a bully towards women. He's lied about multiple things including his actions around the time of the incident. His behavior today made the portrayal of him as high school jock who would do things demeaning to women in an effort to impress his male friends. Ford's memory lapses seem believable but also make it difficult to be willing to convict Kavanaugh in a criminal trial. If Judge was actually allowed to be questioned that might swing things, either way, depending on how the questioning went. The fact that Ford is willing to have the FBI investigate the matter but Kavanaugh is not willing also swings things in her favor regarding believability.
Ford lied about her fear of flying being a reason why she couldn't testify until today.....while actually being in Delaware at the time. She did it simply to delay the process a few days.....someone willing to lie and exploit her allegations like that isn't really someone you can believe over everyone else allegedly at the party who say it never happened.
This is what I think is so ridiculous about her coming out like this. Everyone that she claims was there, doesn't remember the party. At all. Or the events that happened in the fashion she states. I mean, if she's telling the truth, then of course the 2 guys aren't going to say ****...but her really good friend at the time Leland what's her face, doesn't remember it either and even said "she's never met Kavanaugh". This was supposedly a very small party with only 6 people or so there, but she can't remember anyone else besides those other 3 people there..even after it being the most dramatic experience of her life. Sure maybe she tried to forget it as a defense mechanism, but suddenly she has to come out about it? Now? To me that screams of political motivations. From the NY Post, "For starters, Ford still can’t recall basic details of what she says was the most traumatic event in her life. Not where the “assault” took place — she’s not sure whose house it was, or even what street it was on. Nor when — she’s not even sure of the year, let alone the day and month. Ford’s not certain how old she was or what grade she was in when she says an older student violently molested her. (But she doesn’t plead inebriation: She described having just “one beer” at the party.)" https://nypost.com/2018/09/25/eight-big-problems-for-christine-blasey-fords-story/ Sorry, I'm not buying it.
Yeah, when she can't be sure of seemingly ANYTHING other than the fact that it had to have been done by Kavanaugh.....just doesn't pass the BS filter.
Kavanaugh looked and sounded unhinged. The idea of this cretin taking a seat on the Supreme Court is frightening.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/27/politics/kavanaugh-american-bar-association/index.html The American Bar Association is now pleading with the Committee to have the FBI Conduct a full investigation. It will not a good development for Kavanaugh, the Republicans or the American people if this request is ignored. No entity in America is better qualified to make this recommendation than the ABA. They've done an about face on supporting Kavanaugh until a true investigation by a legal authority is done. Wow!
Not quibbling with you, but the ABA is shrinking because it is losing membership steadily. I don't think they are necessarily the end all be all, but do agree that it is a bad fact for Kavanaugh.
Not sure why folks can't understand that some people have a fear of flying but still fly. My sister is a good example.
This is repetitive, but I heard a mutual friend of Judge and Kavanaugh state that Judge was in bad shape -- that he didn't remember 1982 -- and that almost died at the interviewees' wedding. So, dragging Judge in front of the Senate might have been good theater but probably would have been harmful to Judge. I will say that unless the friend was engaged in hyperbole about Judge's mental state, then his not remembering the party in question is of no evidentiary value if he truly was so wasted that he can't remember anything from that time period.
That is entirely possible. I also don't know that Judge would have had to have been interviewed at the hearing. I think they could have questioned Judge and if he was unable to clarify anything, then so be it.
Is this person really trying to act like he discovered this on Sept 27th? It seems like this was posted on clutchfans days ago.
I am curious if grassley was 100% honest. I suspect that the 100% bar would trip 100% of politicians.
I'm an example. I hate flying. I have to fly for business and I choose to tough it out for vacations, but I hate it. My hands get sweaty and I react to every little thing on the plane. I can't sleep on plane because of the anxiety. I still do it but I do avoid it if there are more convenient options.
Lots of things that were found previously weren't really examined in the hearing. For example, Whelan wasn't even asked about. Probably because the hearing really wasn't intended to be a careful examination of the charges or on kavanaugh's suitability to be elevated to the United States Supreme Court. But curious, if Ms. Ford was making it all up, how did she correctly peg who was both at the party and in the room with her. And that they were drunk. His calendar seem to support that portion of her accusation, no?
I have back issues... usually have to take a pain pill before boarding. I still fly places (ie. to Boston Monday). But hey, it was a distraction from the real questions.
Sure, that can happen....but in this instance we're talking about someone who had recently flown from California to Delaware and was actually still in Delaware when she was first talking about not being able to fly from California due to PTSD or whatever. It was a lie, and a lie solely intended to manipulate and delay the process as long as possible. It's simply not an area where her actions can be defended other than from a partisan standpoint.
