I'm inclined to say it was made up to halt the process. It is disgusting the way the left can use the feminism card for literally anything whenever they need to. Which at some level distorts and exploits the entire movement. We even have news media telling us to believe that Serena Williams is some kind of badass for having a meltdown and that women should have the right to derail tournaments with egotistical meltdowns. The right to do what exactly? Complain? Please. Its the same playbook with Cavanaugh in my opinion. It is just a very strong weapon at the moment. Having said that, it should have never come to this. The Republicans wouldn't put up Garland because of the proximity to the midterms. I don't see how that wouldn't apply now, as they are literally rushing to get it done before the midterms. These hypocrites have absolutely no integrity and there is a certain aspect of shameless behavior as a result of it that is in plain sight. And all for what? To make abortion illegal? Please. The irony is that these people hate immigrants. Just see what happens to the number of immigrant children without abortions. Due to the circumstances, I don't blame the Democrats for resorting to fighting fire with fire. Its just sad that we have gotten to this point where literally anything anyone stands for whether it be religion, civil rights, etc is just used as ammo for manipulation tactics. In short do I think Cavanaugh is guilty of this behavior? I'm inclined to say probably not. Would I want him on the Supreme Court? Hell no. I get the same feeling from him as I do from people like Ted Cruz. Does anyone actually look at Ted Cruz and see a decent human being?
I believe 3 woman who come forward with a similar story - yes. They are all on the record and the risk of perjury.....I think he grew up privilidged and took advantage...this is a Less than Zero scenario. What I know is he is UNFIT to be on the SC. DD
Rough day for Kavanaugh. #3 came forward with the HS train parties. #4 and #5 came forward with 1998 allegations. Gotta bump my percentage up to 55%.
It wouldn't make abortion illegal. It would leave it to the States to decide. And most of them would legalize it, if not all.
My guess is that he did something that we consider sexually offensive today. As someone who was in college during the late 70's/early 80's I know things could get pretty wild. I never saw or participated in anything that involved forcing girls to do anything against their will. But, there were lots of sophomoric pranks, heavy drinking, drug use, partying etc etc. But, I was not a frat boy, I was just in a dorm at UT. We all know the frat boys take partying to the next level and beyond.
Sex offender or not the guy has skeletons. Anyone Trump appoints anywhere has skeletons. He needs that so he can control them later.
Before the last 10 years, women naturally gravitated towards privileged white men no matter how cheesy and weak they were. It was their survival mechanism and in many ways set themselves up to be constantly harassed. It's good the culture has changed but I really don't think people should be prosecuted for things done in a different era with different cultural norms. And yes, this was the norm back then... Clinton was a lying sexual predator as President, he finished his term as President. Trump was one as well, hasn't changed anything. Getting drunk and making sexual mistakes was seen as initiation at expensive colleges and part of "youth". Lots of guys forced themselves onto women while intoxicated and the women didn't care. Some did but kept going back to the same situation. It was messy all around from a PC standpoint. Let's just stick to making sure it's no longer the culture and keep things within the last 10 years, because if everyone was really tried on their crimes, politics would be left with 3 people.
Can we make those 3 people justices then? It's nice to have a few non-criminals in the highest court of the land.
You're only pretending to care because he's a Republican. There's far more important things to go over than the college partying habits of a 60 year old. It's not like he's Anthony Weiner or Bill Clinton with an active string of sexual assault, with Hilary shushing the victims to prevent her political ascent.
The difference was that he had a credible accuser with specifics and evidence to support her claim. If those things existed with Kavanaugh things would be very different.
Like I said, there is proof of him actively assaulting females as a person of power. In fact, most of his accusations were WITHIN the last 10 years. The Kavanuagh accusers are from 1982 when he would have been a teenager. It is absolutely stupid to waste so much time on something from a different cultural era... things change a lot in 4 decades, people mature a lot after high school/college years.
