I don't hate acquiring him, but $80 million is rich. I don't know what other team had any interest in him. I just hope that $80 million doesn't become an albatross.

I’m good with it. Had to spend the money

The Fred contract being a 3rd year option softened the blow of this

I just don’t think he deserves to start over KPJ or this team. I’ll be disgusted seeing him in the starting lineup

Yeah. He has Jaren Jackson and Stephen Adams behind him. He can't play that type of defense in Houston. If he presses guys like this video, they will drive past him for an easy layup.

    Sht contract

When folks r celebrating that we avoided signing harden, I just shake my head at this sht contract and fvv signing.

Fvv is at least only 3 years, how stupid our gm has to b to overpay this man to a 4 year contract just astounds me.

He's gonna get outplay by someone else on the team and we gonna end up throwing away trade assets to save tilman money.

Hate the contract and hate that we gave up on young guys like JC, TyTy without giving em a proper shot without getting much back in return. Stone is trash so far this offseason

Yep. This is why his former employer (of six years) let him walk, even as he was blathering about "more to my game" after his not-so-good playoff performance.

Y'all out in the real world of business, do you check references?

My only hope is that Ime knows a lot about this guy that we don't and that they maybe even have some sort of rapport we don't know about. Brooks badly needs to not shoot, but he likes to shoot.

Horrendous signing. Brooks is not a good NBA player.

    TS%:
    2021: .515
    2022: .515
    2023: .494

WS (for reference, Jalen Green had 1.8 last season on a 22-win team):
    2021: 1.4
    2022: 1.6
    2023: 1.6

    BPM:
    2021: -3.7
    2022: -1.8
    2023: -3.9

    VORP:
    2021: -0.9
    2022: 0.0
    2023: -1.1

On top of his actual production, he has torpedoed the Grizzlies the last couple of playoffs with poor shot selection and locker room distractions. Who were we bidding against to need to offer four years? $20 million?! Worst signing I can remember as a Rockets fan.

DB is the bloodhound you sic on the best player in a Playoff series.

He is not that much of a use in the regular season when the team is fighting for 29 or 35 wins.

Even then I am not sure he is that kind of reliable player.

It's the worst offseason move since the Rockets picked up Westbrook.

I don’t like the signing at all. It’s too much money and too long for what he provides. Also, Brooks’ poor man’s Draymond Green act is not what I want around the Rockets’ young players.

Remains to be seen. If we have to at any mount in the future attach a FRP to it to get out of the deal, I’ll
    be livid….

This is one of the best moves The Rockets have made so far, a defensive veteran who can put some respect on The Rockets... The team was really young and soft, teams would constantly bully and talk $hit..... Brooks doesn't back down from anyone and he can play a Marcus Smart type role where he will have some nights when the 3 is falling and helps Rockets grind some games out. Great pickup....

My copium for the Brooks signing is that we paid him that much in order for him to be satisfied with taking a lesser role on offense, and focusing more on defense and good looks from 3. If he comes out jacking up 15 shots a game, that'd be horrible. I'll have to see how Ime handles it first, but for now, I like it.

If he does not work out, just another big contract with an ugly mug.

Lmao Smart is the Lord Emperor compared to Brooks.

Probably a version of Royce White that could stay on court. Minus the playmaking.

I said he could play a Marcus Smart type role, he can bring defense and hustle while knocking down some big 3's every now and then.
