Who will be the guard we trade Wall for in 1-2 years? Paul-Westbrook-Wall-???

 

Their brains knew. The trade already happened so fans had no choice but too accept it. Just like only 20% of fans are against this trade despite it being such a clear risk of a disaster. If someone had suggested trading CP3 and draft rights until 2026 for Westbrook before it actually happened this board would have thrown up.

Am I wrong about Wall's injuries? People already acknowledged that CP3 was a massive injury risk every year, but now somehow Wall is going to be healthy and 100% himself after an Achilles tear. That's delusional.

 

I’m in wait and see mode, but I wouldn’t have touched John Wall, who has a supermax contract and is returning from a torn achilles, with a 10-foot pole. A heavily-protected first-round pick certainly doesn’t change my mind. There are very few NBA players that have been anywhere close to the same player after suffering that injury. It’s like suggesting someone should trade for Klay Thompson immediately once he’s ready to play again.

 

Russ played nothing like an all star for the Rockets. The corpse of Pablo Prigioni wouldve been 100x more impactful to winning per dollar.

Yup its time to be adults and be honest with ourselves. Wall is far less talented than westbrook. A far worse fit than cp3. And far more injury prone then either. This trade is ass

 

I didn't want him either, i always though it was a bad fit, but for a 2months it really looked that WB was unleashed, with 4 shooters and James creating space for his drives.
That was his moment of high value.
Now is selling low, and he didn't got a great value to start with.

nope. that's giving these terrible takes such a gimmick excuse. no their brains didn't know. they just don't know any better and took the usual casual route. And to no surprise were terribly wrong.

you could be. You're just assuming wall will be not able to contribute. Nobody that likes this trade has said they don't understand the situation. he's still a better fit than westbrick that's for damn sure. Oh and also just as important, He actually wants to be here. those 2 months were purely bs. he was always going to regress back to his usual self and that's just bad basketball westbrick. Those random less than 2 month stretch of when the rockets literally altered the lineup just to make him fit gifted him stats. That's the sad part and it falsely makes casuals believe he was great when he wasn't. it's not like the rockets were better. The rockets still ended up struggling when the league gradually threw looks at the rockets and gave them all type of problems.

Now he can go back to what he wants. stat padding regardless of losing. The entire league knows how bad this guy is declining and how his game isn't going to age. Thinking that his value is going to go high at any point is pure comedy. good riddance

This is not a championship team not even close imo and at best this was a lateral move. I don't see how Harden sticks around and if he does he'll just want to move on from Wall just like he did with Dwight, CP and WB. I'm ready for the eventual rebuild that's to come

 

Not a good trade IMO, but at the same time the Rocket's hands were somewhat forced.

WB is a superior player and his value was at an all-time low. People are rightly down on WB due to his terrible performance in the bubble. But forget that he was coming off Covid and an injury.

Furthermore they forget how good he was the 3 months prior to the shutdown. The man avg something like 32 7 and 7 with great efficiency. Would the arrival of Wood/Cousins make WB more like the player the rockets saw in the first part of the season, the 3 months where he was great or the bubble? Its hard to know for certain, but WB's value was so already so low, letting him perform and raise his value seems like a good bet to me.

Acquiring Wall for WB solves little, while creating a ton of problems/questions IMO. Wall's contract is just as bad if not worst than WB. Wall hasn't played in nearly two years. He is coming off a terrible injury. His game, like WB relies heavily on elite athleticism. He is not a good shooter - career 32% at 3. He might not even be a good player anymore. Teams aren't going to respect or guard him out on the 3 point line. Fit, defense, personality, shooting and level of play are all huge questions marks which remain from this trade.

All for the prize of a 2023 protect first round pick. If the Rockets really felt like they had to make a trade, trading him to NY or CHA or ORL for expirings would've been a ton better.

The only good thing about this trade is that there won't be anymore posts about trading WB for Lowry, PG, young player and picks etc.

 

If Wall never plays a single game the rest of his career, it's still a good trade for the Rockets.

 

Few things are more important than health. CP3 was a great fit and wanted to be here, but injuries probably cost us a championship. Same story with Luc Mbah a Moute. You think the Warriors this year are taking any consolation in Klay being a great fit and teammate? His Achilles tear put their season and future in flux. That's what we're dealing with for three years.

 

Did Wall just tear his achilles last week like Klay or something?

and to answer, them being devastated by his injury, yeah they absolutely are taking in what a great fit and teammate he is

 

From what I understand, KD tore his Achilles and is going to be even better than he ever was before, but Wall tore his Achilles so he'll never play again.

 

Wall:

Coming off 2 years of bad injuries.
Coming with an even more horrible contract.
Protections on the pick we get.
Wall has next to ZERO playoff success.
