I think Matt Bullard put it best when he went on 790 and said the last time a Rockets' head coach was fired the owner walked into the locker room and told the players, "You guys got a good man fired."

I support the Rockets' decision to fire McHale and think something had to be done. When a whole team is playing like they do not care, you have to question the coache's connection with his players.

Glad someone started a poll on this. Some random thoughts....

    1) I like McHale personally and think he is a great guy. I was sorry he was fired.

    2) McHale (and staff) have failed to evolve the Rockets offensive scheme and to integrate Ty Lawson. This failure has lead to a domino effect of :: bad offense -> players pouting and not giving effort -> bad defense -> bad record -> coach fired.

    3) Players did not come into camp in shape and with a good mindset. That's on them. Though, as the team leader, McHale has to find ways to motivate and make things happen.

    4) Harden as a team leader and not giving an effort defensively causes a cascading effect on the team not giving their full effort. Like Jalen Rose said, as a leader Harden can't make demands on others that he is not going to fulfill himself. And he has to demand as a leader.

    5) Better offensive scheme will lead to less turnovers and fast break points in the other direction which will lead to better defense. Better offensive scheme will integrate BOTH Harden and Lawson as dual scoring attacks. Better offensive scheme will create action on the weakside. Cutters and movement.

    6) I watched a post practice video at Rockets.com from 11/19 and early on JB talked about the team keeping a positive mindset and having the players keep up each other's spirit. In a separate video Harden talked about how JB always was active on the sideline encouraging the team no matter the circumstances. Clearly JB resonates with his personality and perhaps it is JB's voice that the team needs right now. If that is the case, then the Rockets had to make a change.
