We read all this exact same junk last year. Reed is not made for Udoka’s system. Simple as that. Only way Reed becomes an average NBA scorer is if he plays for an offense that sets a bunch of screens for him because he can’t create his own shot. Udoka’s offense isn’t made that way and that’s why Reed struggles when he has the backup role. I feel much better now that the site finally has some truth to it.
The real question is whether Reed fits with the Rockets? Stone is forcing coach to play him by not having any other options on the roster. Stone is taking a HOF player’s last chance at a ring and betting on Reed. Coach is very much settled into a set pattern of thinking, defensively minded. Reed or coach has to change to make it work.
You guys just have zero capacity to allow nuance and context. The GSW team he joined in 09-10 was dog sh**. He would have played limited minutes on this Rockets team. And gets to have a second SL stint. This oh he never looked back bs is so funny to me. (Oh and ofc he is a legend and has had an unreal learning curve.)
It not simple to me at all lol ok. If he doesn’t fit Ime’s system he would have been gone by now. Go watch how Kyle Lowry was used in Spo’s zones. That’s the vision.
And maybe not call other’s opinion junks. I would not read the rest of your trash when I see that, either.
Ime did an amazing job having the Rockets become the 7th team in nba history to lose to a 7 seed in the first round. No one can question his brilliance.
If Ime and the Rockets didn't think he fit, he'd be gone. Other teams actually wanted him, unlike Jalen Green and Cam Whitmore.
I believe in him but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little concerned at this point. His summer league performance was not ideal. I'm ready to see him start to be an "elite shooter" at some point.
You should really look at the history of high talent players given away for free. The hit rate on them is like 0%.
Bro, you completely missed the point. They have the exact same game. Steph grew into himself and started the NBA when he was 21. If you let Reed play his game, he will be putting up 20 5 and 10 per season with 5+ 3PA PG. Will he hit 40% 3P% per season? That's the goal.
Dodged the question, as expected. You’re not a serious person, which is why nobody here takes you seriously. Any basketball knowledge you may have is buried far beneath your silly, myopic takes.
They dont have the same game lol. Thats like saying Kobe and Von Wafer have the same game. Steph started as a 21 well Reed is now 21 turning 22 so I dont get your point. Reed couldnt even dominate summer league as a 2nd year and you think he will put up 20/5/10 if he plays his game? If he shoots 40% that would be amazing and something this team needs until he does that well he is shooting 32% so far against non-NBA opponents so he has a long way to go.
Its not about the mins its about you comparing a 35% 3 pt shooter to a 43% career 3 pt shooter and the best shooter in NBA history. Obviously Reed can and should improve otherwise he will be dumped but comparing him to Steph is a joke rn he has a long way to go.
Believe in what? Success? All-star level play? Competent backup? Personally, I think the kid will be fine. We've seen enough flashes to know the potential is there. All rookies are inconsistent, and undersized guards typically take time to develop. Couple that with his age and IMO it's just way too early to be making any definitive statements. If Reed shoots 36-40% from three this year and isn't a turnover machine or defensive liability I'd call it a successful second year.
