I'm not a betting per se, but no well in hell this team with hayes/andersen/dorsey at the 5 is better than any team that made the playoffs last yr or win 5. If this team had a shotblocker/rebounder/defender manning the middle minus yao I could see it, but with the crew this yr, its not going to happen.

How is a 35 year old Camby fit in the plans of what Morey is trying to do right now? Did you see Morey pick up or acquire any 30+ year old player THIS offseason? (Go ahead, use that Brent Barry angle and I'll refute by saying it was last year where circumstances were different. Plus, we are trying to move Brent this offseason, so there goes that argument.)

So I don't know why people are pissing and moaning on missed opportunities on the near 30 yrs old and up players that were moved this offseason. Those simply were not in the plans once Morey realized Tmac and Yao were going to be out for awhile.

Now, this could all change depending on the outlook of Tmac and Yao. But as of right now, IMO Morey and Adelman are going to see what the young guys can do with the vets that we have.

v.3, for this year, camby makes a lot of sense. He's a really good shot blocker and defender/rebounder type. He is one of the best passing bigs in the entire league and his contract expires after the season. If you're trying to have a team that can compete in the west, play adelman style, and maintain cap flexibility, camby is a better fit than shane. Tracy comes back, shane goes to the bench.

I don't think Morey is looking for band aids and 1 year rentals of old players right now. I mean, isn't he trying to parlay TMac's expiring for someone/some players that we can build around for the future?

So even though Camby's expiring 7.6 mill is enticing, again IMO Morey is not looking to acquire old players right now.

I call him 6 years younger then Camby and with a 3 year contract (last year team option) not a 1 year band aid.

Argue all you want, but Morey decided to go for Andersen, which did not cost us much and no one had to be dealt. Morey could have called the Clippers and inquired about Camby, but why would the Clippers want Shane (who's salary closest matches Camby's)? We could have dealt Scola and Landry for Camby, but no way I'd do that deal.

Andersen is not a better player plus he's a 30 yr old rookie. His contract is basically a 2 yr deal. Yao is going to miss this and will be back next yr. Even if camby played out this season, he would be a great backup resigned cheaper to backup yao.

Well call in to a radio station tomorrow like all the other fans and voice your displeasure then. Because that's what you're sounding to me, a generic caller with all the grand solutions.

Who said Andersen was the better player anyways? I'm saying the umpteenth time that someone like Camby doesn't fit what Morey is trying to do right now...IMO

It's like what durvasa said, I'm not expecting a title just because Camby joins our team even with healthy TMac. He's not that big of a difference maker.

In this uncertain situation,it's more likely for players to look at other options. If Camby leaves the LAC,he could try to join a contender instead of us.

V.3, all I would get is generic, political answers. If I ask are we contending or are we rebuilding because you can't do both, what do you think the answer will be? I can write it up as if i'm a mind reader.

What will Camby give us anyway? MAYBE 2 extra wins? And I'm leery of him even contributing that much. And what does that do? Another repeat of turning Brandon Roy into Shane Battier?

I don't know what's the point of this team trying to aim for a 9th seed or a 1st round ass whooping. Or do people want the Rockets run Isiah Thomas-style?

Meh, I think all this beating around the bush and trying to be coy about it. If we are going to rebuild, dump tracy, scola, shane and don't sign andersen. You don't have 5 30yr olds on a rebuild. Take what you can get in terms of young players and draft picks and move on. Look at all the teams rebuilding and tell me how many 30 yr olds they have.

I think the organization has made it clear they are not interested in rebuilding at this time.

Can't you look at the big clues of what Morey has done this offseason and make up your own mind?

He drafted 2 young guys, signed a young free agent, signed a relatively young big with a cheap flexible contract, signed another young big to a non-guaranteed contract...I mean, where does a 35 yr old center fit in all this?

They're not rebuilding. They're building for 2010-2011 season. I don't know how anyone cannot see that.

Camby helps us this season. And then he's either gone next season, or going to be paid way too much for a backup center. Anderson gives us a little help this season, and makes ~2-3 mil next season, which is the perfect amount for a backup center.

Hence, David Anderson >>> Marcus Camby for this team. Isiah Thomas-eque are bad for teams.

who were these big guys you are referring to?

and please tell me how we would have swung a deal for jefferson....what magical expiring contracts did we have to match the deal SA sent?
