Paul is a fabulous player with lightning quickness and he works his ass off on the court. But his mental make-up is average. Williams on the other hand has decent quickness and athleticism, but also Bird-like basketball IQ and composure to go with it. Williams' play-recognition before just about everyone else on the court or in the stands is a rare talent that just doesn't come into the league very often. Everytime I watch the guy play I just shake my head. If it's a tight playoff game, I want the ball in Deron's hands over any other PG in the league.
Whats with the "CP3" crap....have we totally run out of nicknames for players? Didnt we have SF3 before? Its not like his last name doesnt have only 4 freaking letters anyway.....is CP3 saving you that much time over Paul? Where did this come from?
Haven't we had like 10 threads on this same subject? Seems like people never get tired of talking about this.
Stockton = no ring but tough as nails and as smart a player as there ever was Isiah = top 10 PG of all time and had a hell of a front line to cover for his size. He was also an animal and meaner than hell Nash = no ring and if you can't admit he gets eaten alive by bigger guards then get a new prescription. It will be worse now without Marion to cover for him too. Kidd = you going to tell me his size isn't a huge benefit for him as a player? He cannot be posted by any PGs and most SGs. His size also wears down other PGs. Williams' size allowed him to take Parker down low in the playoffs. It also allowed him to not be steam rolled by Baron like everyone else is. It might be different if Paul was a strong, tough, savvy undersized guard like Isiah or Stockton but he is not. He is a jet quick guy with fast hands but appears somewhat fragile and is certainly overwhelmed by bigger guards. A PG's size is always mentioned when listing a guy's strengths and weaknesses. It is important.
