Isn't that kind of oxymoronic? Or perhaps you should have re-worded it because you are unemployed in a "fake" job but employed in a "real" one? Is there any point in me writing any of this? Will you marry me?

Uhh...I selected "arts" and "academics" because I am a super duper star. I make so much money I can pay for my own toothpaste. Can you imagine? You are jealous.

I suppose I could also put "student" because one day I will probably finish that PhD...the sad thing is that I almost got an MS in the middle of my current track.

Hey! Who you calling a moron? Didn't you get a degree in Art history?

    ;)

And as far as marriage is concerned, I don't think you make enough money.

This poll discriminates against the working class :p

...Then again, most blue collar folks I've worked with know next to nothing about the internet, so I'll take less offense as the exception.

I apologize for not putting up a separate category for that. I am from New York, so I didn't think about the oil & gas industry in Texas. I guess this is a poll for clutchfans around the world, and not just for Houstonians, so I feel I've represented most of the "main" professions out there. And I guess it does kind of fall under the "Industrial" category of Engineering.

It is really interesting that we've got a lot of students and IT type people on this board. It kind of makes sense because I feel these two categories contain the types of people that would keep up-to-date about the happenings around the world by using the internet and going on forums like this. Cool stuff.

BTW I wish I knew about this forum when I was attending college and grad school in Providence, RI the last 5 years. I would have spent more time keeping up with the Rockets and less doing useless stuff. Cheers.

I do engineering for an oil company, but there are a lot of jobs here that aren't engineering.

Speaking as someone who's wasted the last 10 or so years here, this board is completely useless!

    :D

You don't like my grand toothpaste talk?

Hey - at least you have a real job. My only job options are the fake kind. But I didn't get a degree in art history...I got MULTIPLE degrees. Multiplying by zero = awesome!

I was actually trying to be complimentary with you, though...it is not as if you are and "actor" who waits tables at TGI Fridays in Times Square.

No problem......but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that three of the top ten largest companies in the world are in the oil and gas industry.
