See I knew all of this before hand sans Katrina. And yet I still didn't see anything the Democrats were planning on doing that was better, nor did I believe they would provide stronger leadership. And I disagreed with them on social policy. Why would I then vote for them? And why would I then be called a numbskull by you guys?
don't forget: his social security plan no child left behind his immigration ideas stem cell medicare stuff before appointing alito (not scalia), trying to pass harriet miers off was real bright i'm not sure which is worse his domestic policy or his foreign policy.
I say I regret voting for Bush because it totally scores me cool points and makes me look smart and open-minded to people whose opinions I value more than my own!
I didn't say that. I said it was the best reason to vote against him. It's my opinion. I can't help it if the majority doesn't think of such important things. To twhy's credit, he did. We may disagree, but at least he "gets it." D&D. Ice Everywhere.
It was "the American people came to their senses," quote. My bad. I can see how it might have confused you. I meant that they came to their senses and the GOP got beat like a drum. A side effect was the ending of far right Bush appointees getting confirmed. Should have been clearer. Of course, rimrocker just posted that the Republican Congress secretly passed a law enabling the appointment of US Attorneys without Senate approval, and the Administration is busy replacing them with people who will do their bidding, in my opinion. D&D. Don't Go Near the Yellow Snow.
I got what I wanted out of Bush. Rehnquist and O'Conner left the court and Bush appointed Alito and Roberts. I am glad Gore or Kerry did not get to put more pro-choice justices on the bench.
Caveat to my previous comments for the benefit of SM, twhy and others that voted Bush on the single issue of SC Justices/abortion: For those of you that consider abortion to be the killing of innocent children and feel it should be stopped by whatever means possible, at all costs, I don't think you're insane to have voted Bush and I wouldn't expect you to regret your vote. You guys both know my position on abortion and you both know I respect yours, so I'm sorry to have lumped you in with the rest of the Bush voters. When I said I thought someone would be insane to have voted Bush and still stick by that decision, I was referring to people who did so on virtually every other issue -- Iraq, terrorism, national security, opposition to big government, support for fiscal conservatism, etc... heck, even gay marriage, which he dropped like a hot potato after squeaking by in 04 by the benefit of anti-gay votes. But my apologies to those of you that voted Bush on the abortion issue. Given your feelings I understand it being an issue that would overwhelm all others and I understand why you'd vote Bush and stick by that vote.
i haven't read rim's post yet.... but i agree with the sentiments of many on here... '08 can't come soon enough. hah don't make snow cones out of the yellow snow!
