just curious, for the hard liners, do any of you seen/or about to see action in iraq or do you have immediate loved ones serving?
I'm not sure if I'm a hardliner have many friends over there. However, I object to your underlying and not so subtle "chickenhawk" argument.
It's not your curiosity, it's the underlying "how can you support a war if you're not fighting" sentiment that comes out and is offensive.
It must be marvelous to live in a world where: 1) people who disagree with you are deemed insane and 2) people who gravitate into agreement with you are virtuous That would make life easy....
How is this relevant? You're just trolling. I personally have not shot at or been shot at. I also have never arrested anyone or put out a fire but I expect police and fireman to do so. It's their job and I support them 100% in their efforts. What's the difference? I haven't sacrificed anything there, either.
So, I'm insane for saying I'd vote for Bush again if it were the same elections? Yeah...thanks. Guess we can't all see eye to eye, especially when you stand so much higher than the rest of us.
There is no way everyone will agree on anything political, otherwise why would there be a D&D? No need to call people stupid for believing one way or the other, everyone have their own experience and circuimstance. But it is nice to see people's opion do change on political issues as this poll shows, that's all one can ask in D&D.
Yeah, I know. I thought I was one of the ones who was willing to trample over the Constitution... to my no, our, utter detriment. As a past middle-age person, that is about all I have to give.
Besides polls going down and the war not going so well, what really has changed for so many former supporters in the past 2 years. To me, I already knew the war was not going well, and I didn't like Bush's fiscal direction, yet I felt the changes in the Supreme Court were far more important at the time. Am I totally nuts for thinking that? Both are poor leaders, one had slightly better plans for Iraq, adn when it came down to it the vote was to get more conservatives on the Supreme Court. That's a whole different issue though that makes me mad, and really needs to be addressed, the fact that whoever controls the court controls legal truth. It's lame and needs help. I'd like to get a damn leader in office, and while Barack has good leadership qualities, I don't agree with his direction. But I guess I'm a damn idiot because I don't agree with opinion polls.
The main reason Bush needed to be defeated, and the GOP Congress defeated, was to prevent Bush from appointing judges to the Federal bench for life. I'm damn glad it finally happened, at least in Congress. The American people came to their senses. I respect the fact that you loved what Bush was doing, but I couldn't be happier that he'll be stopped. D&D. It's Freezin' Cold.
i think you're giving the public more credit than is due. if you think the people voted democrat in november because of judges that bush has appointed, you're mistaken.
The fact that he had no plan for Iraq came into public focus. The Hurricane Katrina/Rita catastrophe was handled horribly, with the federal government offering no real help, but instead acting like an ATM machine. The warrantless phone taps were exposed. He continued to spend my tax money like a sailor on shore leave. If there's anything I believe Bush did really well, it is appointing Justice Scalia, and Roberts isn't bad. I think that's going to be the dichotomy of the Bush legacy. He ran roughshod over the Constitution, but he appointed Justices that stand for it. We will see most of his atrocities overturned by his own Court.
