The generation before Rock thought Elvis was hypersexualized with his live performances, older generations thought 60s artists with drug use and civil rights themes were insane, same thing with Hip Hop or black counter culture genres. Check out when Jazz first came out, Rock, electronic music or Raves and Hip Hop. The older generation typically fears the younger generation and the progression from the status quo (not all of course, many are dynamic thinkers and evolve). Sometimes it's for good reason, others most of the time for fear of change.

Human nature I guess, thought it was a solid show and game. Most of the 90s Hip Hop generation are now parents and the current mainstream.

    Also, pretty funny thread.

I didn’t really hear a lot of music in the halftime show. To be fair, I’ve never been a big fan of rap or hip hop. I like music with instruments and singing. Seems like rap and hip hop is less about the music and more about the personality of the performer. Everyone wants to look tough and be the baddest dude on stage.

Whatever. If other people like it, it doesn’t bother me in the least. I can always change the channel. Different people like different things. That’s cool.

One common problem I see at these super bowl shows is that they try cram a two hour show into 15 minutes. I would prefer to see one performer as opposed to five performers in such a short show.

What's odd about hip-hop/rap is that it's somehow transformed into being "it's whatever you want to be". If you want to be gangster, do it. If you want to be a suburban kid that likes to rap, do it. If you want to say something serious, do it. If you want to be a clown and get attention, do it. A lot of the acts that are hip-hop/rap nowadays would've been laughed off the stage or beat up in the 80's and 90's. But then I look back at a lot of those acts from that era and cringe, too. lol. It's also neat to see how every genre has influences of other genres in it. Hip-hop and rock infiltrated country music long ago, too.

For me, it's always been about the beat. If some people want real guitars and drums, that's cool. I just need something that sounds good. If that means beating on pots and pans, I couldn't care less as long as it sounds good. It's rare I listen to music for lyrics (although there are cases). But in general, I agree with you -- enjoy what you like and if you don't, find something else that does.

No matter the act, the halftime show of a Super Bowl usually just means I have enough time for a break, get some more food, roll my garbage out for collection the next day, and take a bathroom break. I don't see the appeal of a condensed concert with a bunch of half-a-songs, but that's just me.

Gotta figure out how to get Ted Nugent, Kanye and Gary Busey on stage together. I literally would pay any amount of money to see that.

Being conservative does not mean you're a racist. Honestly these days it seems quite the opposite...

This is why I wish sketch shows like In Living Color was still around. They would have roasted the *** outta that halftime show. I haven’t seen SNL in awhile are there any black prime time players beside Kennan Thompson?
Omg imagine Kennan as 50 Cent, I’m going to die lmfao!
