They are outliers but the the 16th pick turning into better than the top pick is even more of an outlier as I have shown you. 16th pick gets you 10% chance at a hit? Bruh you are on some crack try 0.5%. Every year there are 40 guys taken out of the top 10. Just calculate the odds a Jokic or Sengun comes out of the later rounds. If there's at least 1 guy who breaks out per draft that's a 2.5% chance in that draft alone and I'm sure there isn't a star player outside the top 10 every draft. Not sure what the chance of top 1 pick is becoming an all star but it's Def better than 2.5%. I don't want a perennial playoff team that always gets pounded hard in the playoffs due to lack of talent. You keep saying Scola, do you remember that time the Rockets were rolling with Scola, Battier and Hayes as their best players? You though that was exciting to be a 0.500 team, get the 8th seed and then get swept for like 3 years straight? I remember that and that experience was horrible. They beat who they were supposed to beat, lost to who they were supposed to lose to and then you get disappointment at the end of the season as they got swept by the 1st seed. Who did the Rockets get during those years? Marcus Morris, Terrence Jones, Chandler Parsons, Royce White, Jeremy Lamb. Not exactly Sengun, Jabari, Jalen, Amen and Tari. So yeah, all you anti tankers are just plain wrong. If you hate tanking so much don't watch any of the top stars in the NBa since vast majority of them were drafted by tanking teams. This post made me google Terrence Jones (the stomper) and I was surprised to see he is only 31...much younger than Uncle Jeff. Draymond Green was drafted after him and Royce White and Jeremy Lamb... Kawhi Leonard was drafted after Marcus Morris...as was Jimmy Butler... But these two were the only very good guys really drafted after these dudes.
Exactly if you aren't getting a top pick you will most likely get a role player or bust. Even if you are the best drafter ever if you always pick low there's a large chance no one good is left. And I suspect as the scouting ability of teams improve we are gonna see less and less of hidden gems fall thru the cracks, at the very least outright busts like Kandi Man, Adam Morrison etc aren't as prevalent as in the past.

Imagine rockets picked sengun at 2 and played him as franchise player like green gave him the freedom to take every shoot play bad defence and get 35 min he would won rockie of the jear and would be all star in season 2. Well thank God Sengun isn't you because if he was you he'd be a bust. Imagine crying over that and demanding a trade in your rookie year over something like a POSSIBLE Roy. He wouldn't even make it to the NBa in the first place being a major diva like that. i'd rather watch those Scola/Sura/Battier type teams fight to a .500 record - than watch that kpj/wood/silas crap for another year - am i wrong? look man, idk how old u are... but im 52 and been a fan of the Rox since i was like 12... after 40 years of being a fan u learn that championships are few and far between... u always hope to catch lightning in a bottle and be a contender - but with time you come to appreciate teams that work hard and hustle and leave it all on the court - thats a team to be proud of - regardless of results... Like i'm appreciating the grittiness of the current team (esp Brooks)... i hope they push their way into the playoffs, but if not i still appreciate the efforts! I did not appreciate the last couple years...
