Officers showed too much restraint here. Given the violence this family was showing towards the police, more of them should have been shot.

The officers here are very lucky that one of them did not get killed. All that wrestling around with suspects while outnumbered. Would have been very easy for one of them to snag one of the officer's weapons.

Agreed with this. Not sure what intel the cops had, but I'd be wary of wandering into a 4v8 situation. The family might have guns or other weapons to "defend" themselves with.

    Glad no police officers died.

I believe one of them did snag the gun.

If this had happened. . .
    1. All of suddened . . police brutality is 'AN EPIDEMIC'
    2. There would be a kickstarter for the family making like 500K in hours

I will give the LE credit for restraint in not going to lethal force quickly but other that this was handled very poorly.

The LEO should've been aware this was a dangerous escalating situation and not allowed them to be surrounded and outnumbered. I think this is one where backing away and trying to keep them contained until more back up could arrive instead of brawling with them. They also do have non-lethal force at their disposal and this is a situation where pepper spray to keep them from being surrounded might've been useful.

As for the particular tactics I agree with the poster earlier who pointed out the LE fighting was pretty poor. As the video shows exchanging fisticuffs did little to resolve the situation and just made it more. Select strikes especially to the knees could rapidly end an opponent from being able to continue to advance along with things like sweeps to take down opponents without getting yourself entangled with them. Also a night club is useful for more than just striking but there are a lot of techniques for taking an opponent off their feet and using it as a restraint tool. Slugging it out with a guy might seem more manly but unless you are a well trained boxer with a very good knockout punch you are conceding a lot of advantage to an opponent.

This is another example where better training, awareness on the part of LE might've resolved the situation better.

But why would the call backup if no one was brawling yet. The two cops cars were the backup. No more backup should be required until it's too late and the fighting started

You guys make it sound like this was a bank robbery where the cops would surround from afar. This is four cops and six males who they wanted to separate and talk too

That was insane....speechless after watching it.

Scary, out of control situation. Cops should tons of restraint, before using deadly force. Perhaps due to the current media coverage of police brutality / empowerment....or....not all cops are "bad".

    That was nuts.

Because HP. If the cops had just never shown up none of this would have ever happened.

The NBA's report claims there were no fouls and nothing to see here.

If Abed can do a timeline where the cops were black and the family was Hispanic or Native American I think we'll have a full set.

White privilege in full effect. You can act a damn fool and still live... Must be nice.

Yea... Accusations of brutality for the cops because those poor bastards couldn't fight worth a damn. Must be all of that hand to mouth combat donut training and tutorial classes on how not to get jelly stains on your uniform.
